FPL tips – Removing this world-class Arsenal star from the team could come back to haunt the managers

FPL Gameweek 3 – Why picking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a must

Gameweek 2 was the week of Sergio Aguero and Sergio Aguero only. If you had him as your captain, then you would be over the moon right now. For those who didn’t have him, they hoped and prayed that they collected those Aguero points from elsewhere. The majority of non-Aguero owners hoped that one player who could come to their rescue – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

These Aubameyang dreams almost came into reality. The moment Hector Bellerin gave a low drilled cross from the right, the eyes of Aubameyang owners gleamed with excitement.

He was there at the centre of the six-yard box, with the goal at his mercy and then somehow, he blasted the ball over, from a position where missing was tougher than scoring a goal. He again missed an easy chance with his left foot in the closing stages of the first half.

These misses would have agitated his owners and Aubemayang has been sold by more than 144k managers already. Most of these funds were used to get Aguero, who gained 525k new managers around the world. But this move can backfire his sellers in the upcoming gameweeks.

The managers who got Aubemayang at the start of the season didn’t bring him for the first two games. Arsenal were never the favourites to win against Manchester City or Chelsea. He was bought for what is about to come ahead.

Arsenal face West Ham, Cardiff, Newcastle, Everton and Watford in their next 5 games. This is where Arsenal usually come to the party. Arsenal’s record against the teams outside top-6, especially at home, is just ridiculous. They thrashed West Ham 4-1 in the same fixture in April and considering West Ham’s current form, Arsenal are the favourites to hammer them again.

If that happens, Aubameyang can very well be the numero uno attacker for the Gunners. His stats over the last 2 games suggest the same even though he faced two big teams. He has taken 3 shots, made 2 key passes, attempted 1 assist and won 3 aerial duels.

Against a West Ham side that was opened up quite easily by Liverpool, the likes of Mkhitaryan, Ozil and Ramsey are sure to find spaces between the lines, and the person to gain the most from this will be the Gabonese international.

Also, Aubemayang proved his world-class status in his four-month stint last season when he scored 10 goals and assisted 4 in 13 Premier League matches. It’s just a matter of time before he gets into similar form again.
