FPL tips – This £10.9million Chelsea star would be the perfect differential captaincy candidate for matchday 17

Fantasy Premier League tips – The ideal captaincy candidate for matchday 17

Fantasy managers were left wondering as to how they left Mohamed Salah out of the line-up last weekend. The highest priced asset in the game delivered a whopping 21 points as he racked up a hat-trick against Bournemouth.

The likes of Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to deliver big returns while the former started the game as a substitute against Leicester City. This is exactly why differential captains play a powerful rule if picked right.

Often, managers tend to ride the wave with the bandwagon but even the most obvious choice is bound to stutter at some point. One man who has been very consistent though and has been slowly re-attracting attention is Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard.

Willian and Eden Hazard

Since returning from injury a couple of weeks ago, the Belgian has been a superb contributor going forward. Though he hasn’t scored a goal in more than two months, Hazard is extremely influential when the Blues go forward.

The Chelsea midfielder thrived playing in a false nine role against Man City as well, with Alvaro Morata failing to produce the goods on a regular basis. Hazard was in scintillating form against Manchester City last weekend as Maurizio Sarri’s side handed the Champions their first defeat of the season.

Hazard has now picked up 5 assists in his last 6 appearances and there’s every chance he could break his goalscoring drought against Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend. The Belgian was also rested in mid-week for their Europa League clash, with both Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane playing for their respective teams in the midweek.

Eden Hazard

This means that Hazard is a clear standout option for this week’s captaincy. Although he is a differential option, the Belgian’s consistency shows that he is a safe bet and a powerful one if picked at the right time.

The Seagulls have kept just 3 clean sheets all season and have lost their pace over the last few weeks. Chris Hughton’s side have conceded 22 goals in the league as well this season. Of the three clean sheets they have kept, only one of those have been away games, which came against a poor Newcastle United side who are struggling to find the back of the net.

This means that Brighton have conceded a goal in every other away game this season. Managers should definitely bring in Eden Hazard given the form and fixture at hand. His price has also dropped to £10.9million and now would be a great time to bring in the Belgian given Chelsea have a good run of fixtures as well.
