Gayle to lead the line – Strongest 4-4-1-1 West Brom XI to face Norwich City in the Championship

Predicted West Brom line-up to face Norwich City in the Championship

West Bromwich Albion will be aiming to bounce back from their opening day defeat against Bolton Wanderers. The Baggies succumbed to a defeat, courtesy of a Yanic Wildschut goal in the dying minutes of the game.

West Brom have lost a number of their top performers this transfer window, which will make it a lot more difficult for the team. Darren Moore will be hoping for an improved performance against Norwich City this weekend.

The Baggies can kickstart their season with a win against the Canaries at Carrow Road. Norwich City were only able to come away with a draw against Birmingham, which leaves this weekend’s game wide open.

Probable West Brom XI

Manager: Darren Moore

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Sam Johnstone (GK)

The Baggies signed the Manchester United youth graduate after Ben Foster left for Watford. He is a talented goalkeeper and an excellent shot-stopper who is capable of surprising many.

Allan Nyom (RB)

The former Watford defender likes to raid down the flanks and supply the attack with crosses. Defensively diligent and offensively sound, Nyom could grab a few assists come the end of the season.

Ahmed Hegazy (CB)

The Egyptian international was one of the Baggies’ leading lights last season but his efforts were in vain with the club ultimately facing the drop. He will be key in their bid for promotion this season.

Kyle Bartley (CB)

The former Swansea centre-back was brought in as a replacement for the departed Jonny Evans. He will be their first choice centre-back along with Ahmed Hegazy.

Kieran Gibbs (LB)

The former Arsenal defender has plied his trade at the highest level and will flourish in the Championship. He is a speedy, smart and committed defender.

Matt Phillips (RM)

Phillips is a constant threat down the right flank with his direct running against defenders. On his day, he is capable of taking on anyone.

Jake Livermore (CM)

Livermore brings a sense of stability in the midfield and also supports the defence when required. His contribution in the middle of the park is vital for the team to remain intact.

Chris Brunt (CM)

The Baggies’ main source of supply going forward. Brunt possesses a gem of a left foot capable of producing sublime crosses and thunderous shots.

Harvey Barnes (LM)

On loan from Leicester City, Barnes picked up a goal in his last outing and looked fresh on the field. He will be aiming to get on the scoresheet once again this weekend.

Jay Rodriguez (CAM)

The versatile attacker looked calm and composed in a central attacking midfield role. He is also capable of switching positions with the attacker whenever required.

Dwight Gayle (ST)

The Baggies have landed Gayle on a season-long loan from Newcastle United. The last time he played in the Championship, Gayle ended the season as the competition’s most prolific goalscorer. He will be vital in their bid for Premier League return.
