Go for it Bielsa – This upcoming Bulgarian starlet could be a wonderful addition for Leeds United

Why Leeds United will do the right thing by signing Dimitar Sheytanov

Leeds United seem to be nearing their third signing of the summer, Bulgarian goalkeeper Dimitar Sheytanov. There still hasn’t been an official statement from the club confirming the transfer, but the 19-year old prospect posted a “goodbye” message on his Instagram profile, saying he’ll miss his now former teammates from Levski Sofia.

It’s an interesting move for the Whites and an exciting opportunity for one of the brightest talents of Bulgarian football. It has to be noted that the Yorkshire outfit would surely see Sheytanov as one for the future. They currently have two excellent stoppers in the first-team.

Jamal Blackman made a switch from Chelsea on loan, after impressing at Sheffield United last term. Bailey Peacock-Farrell played well towards the end of the previous campaign and will sure try to retain his starting spot.

Of course, one mustn’t forget that former Feyenoord goalie Kamil Miazek, who signed on a free transfer earlier in the year. He plays regularly for the U23 side and shines, showing why he was so highly rated in the Netherlands. He and Sheytanov will compete for the starting spot in the Reserves.

Even though signing a goalkeeper didn’t seem high on the list of priorities for Marcelo Bielsa, the Bulgarian would be a great addition to the team. He hasn’t played senior football yet but has performed admirably in the Levski youth setup, and has also produced some mesmerising displays for Bulgaria U19.

His saves against teams such as Spain (0-0), Netherlands (0-0) and Germany (1-1) will be remembered for a long time by all Bulgarian football lovers.

It’s also worth noting young that Dimitar has football in his blood because his father is former Bulgarian goalkeeper Georgi Sheytanov.

Sheytanov Senior had a decent career with top Bulgarian clubs such as Levski, Lokomotiv Sofia and current Cup-holders Slavia, while also having successful spells in Greece.
