Ever since Rangers appointed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as their new manager, the rumour mill has been abuzz with reports of him raiding his former club to bring in new players at the Ibrox.
The likes of Dominic Solanke and Ben Woodburn have been linked with a move to the Glasgow club and the latest target appears to be highly-talented attacker Harry Wilson.
The 21-year-old is another in the line of promising youngsters coming through the Reds’ youth sides and has been tipped for a bright future. And Gerrard and Rangers are keen on getting him to the Ibrox this summer on a loan deal.
Having come through the Liverpool academy, Wilson went on to break into the first-team in January last year, in a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup. But that remains his only appearance till date for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Wilson spent the first half of the 2017/18 campaign with the Liverpool U23 outfit and went on to net 10 times and register 3 assists in 12 appearances in the Premier League 2.
He then moved to Championship outfit Hull City on loan in January and he stayed there for the rest of the season. During his time with the Tigers, Wilson played a crucial role in helping the team stave off relegation, as he plundered 7 goals and laid on 4 assists in 13 appearances for Nigel Adkins’ side.
Wilson made his international debut for Wales back in October 2013 and is the youngest player to have represented the nation, at the age of 16 years and 207 days. Since then, he has made three more appearances, finding the back of the net on one occasion.
Wilson is someone whose talents are well known to Gerrard as he has worked with the player at Liverpool and the youngster has gone from strength to strength in the past couple of years.
He can play anywhere in the attacking third and Wilson also possesses a natural ability to glide past opponents with utmost ease. In addition to that, the youngster boasts of a keen eye for the goal.
While the Gers have strengthened their wide areas with the additions of Scott Arfield and Jamie Murphy, Wilson would provide them with an alternate dimension going forward. A young, talented and dynamic forward, the Wales international has a lot of potential and would be a great addition to the Gers squad next season.
