Go for it Klopp – Liverpool could strike a brilliant deal by signing this 21-year-old prodigy in January

Why Liverpool must sign Lucas Paqueta this January

According to an Italian commentator and journalist Andersinho Marques, Lucas Paqueta’s agent is in Liverpool. This means that the Brazilian’s move to Merseyside could materialise soon.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise for the Reds fans because manager Jurgen Klopp kept close tabs on the 21-year-old during the summer transfer window. (Daily Star)

The Brazilian is a fantastic talent who has been scouted by big clubs such as Barcelona, Manchester United (Manchester Evening News) and Paris-Saint Germain (Mirror). This just shows that the player is an emerging talent and good enough to improve any team in Europe.

Liverpool lost the plot in signing playmaker Nabil Fekir due to medical issues (Telegraph). Even though they have made a good start to the season, the performances show that a playmaker is needed in their team, Paqueta could be the right choice. Here’s why:

Player Analysis – Lucas Paqueta

The Brazilian is a quality player who can play in several positions across the advanced midfield. He can operate as a No.8 (creative midfielder), as a No.10 or as a wide midfielder. These are the areas where a player must have that creative edge to take carry the ball and look up to pick out the attacking runners.

Lucas Paqueta

In the Brazil league, he has one assist and nine goals in 24 appearances, with a key pass rate of 1.4. This shows that he has created around 33 chances for the team. The 21-year-old possesses a pass success rate of 84.4%.

Liverpool would do well with someone like Paqueta in their line-up. He can create chances, score goals and be that creative link between the midfield and the attack. The Brazilian could be that player who can bring the team together and make them a more fearsome prospect in the coming days.

Verdict

If the game against Napoli was anything to go by, the Reds are in need of an attacking midfielder. Wondering if Paqueta would have done well in a game like that can’t be a bad shout.

Hence, Klopp’s men must do everything to get the Brazilian in the winter. He can turn them into a finished article that would enable them to sustain their challenge for the Premier League and the Champions League.
