Why Liverpool Should Beat West Ham United To The Signing Of Raul Jimenez

Jurgen Klopp has been a busy man since the end of the previous transfer window as he is desperate to improve his Liverpool squad for the challenges that lie ahead next season. The Reds have qualified for the Champions League next season and can do with some top quality additions to their squad this summer.

They have already added Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah to their attack this summer but yet another attacker extensively linked with a move to Anfield is Raul Jimenez. One of the most exciting attackers in Mexico, Jimenez is reportedly ready for a move to England with West Ham also interested. But should Liverpool look to sign him?

Born and brought up in Hidalgo, Mexico, the 26-year old is a product of the America Academy in Mexico, where he broke into the first team back in 2011. Just three years later, he found a place at the Vicente Calderon, where he spent just a year, before moving to Benfica.

He has established himself as a regular at the Portuguese outfit, making 32 appearances across all competitions last season. He picked up 11 goals and 3 assists for his efforts and has been impressive, with his consistency.

A genuine target man, who can also play as a support striker, Jimenez is a strong centre-forward, who loves to dominate his box in the air. He is a genuine threat every time the ball is played into the box, and adds a different dimension to Liverpool’s attack for next season.

His finishing and ability to hold onto the ball in dangerous areas, along with his tireless running make him a superb option for a Premier League outfit while his experience for club and country will only allow him to be an instant hit in England.

He is a big threat in counter attacks and is hardly wasteful in possession and is a player Klopp will love to have under his belt. He is not expected to be the first choice, even from the bench, but he will add dynamism to the attack whenever called upon and there are very few players who fit the bill this perfectly.

The Reds need to have all the backup they can in the squad for the challenges next season and can do with a player of Jimenez’s calibre. He will also be a huge addition to the squad at the London stadium as he will fit into Slaven Bilic’s system pretty well. So Liverpool have to complete this deal quickly as it could make their attack compete on all fronts.
