Go For It Klopp: These 3 Signings Could Turn Liverpool Into Serious Title Contenders

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been scintillating at times this season. But for all the good work put in by The Reds, they’ve also been plagued by constant criticism regarding their performances in some of the ‘winnable’ games, which Klopp’s side have often come out on the negative end, owing to complacency or lack of a ‘Plan B’. Attacking-wise, they’ve been one of the best clubs in the country by a mile, but it’s on the defensive end where Klopp has found it tough going.

Initially, it looked like Liverpool would be the favorites for the league title, but as it stands they’re in 3rd place and some way adrift of league leaders Chelsea.

It has been reported that Jurgen Klopp will get a more-than-healthy transfer chest of £150m and given his nuance when it comes to bringing in the right kind of players, the German is destined to do a good job. Here are a few players that the master German tactician could look at:

Jonas Hector ( Left back, 26)

The German has attracted considerable interest in the January transfer window, where Chelsea were keen on adding him to their squad. But Koln held strong in their resolve as they’re having quite a decent season in the Bundesliga. Hector has been a German international since 3 years and has earned some rave reviews for his performances at the Euro 2016 tournament, where he was Germany’s number one choice at left back.

With James Milner having to fill in at left-back, it’s quite obvious that Klopp needs re-enforcements in that area and it will be interesting to see what player he brings in. Hector, nevertheless would be quite an astute choice as at 26, he’s entering the perfect phase of his career to test himself out at a club like Liverpool. His ability to also play as a centre-half might appeal to his compatriot Klopp, who has had troubles in finding the right centre back pairing.

Alexandre Lacazette ( Forward, 25)

Klopp has also encountered muddy waters when it comes to attacking options. Daniel Sturridge has been sidelined as Klopp prefers Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino in attack. The addition of a top-class performer like Lacazette into the mix would certainly shake things up and make an already enterprising Liverpool attack, an invincible one.

Lacazette has been scoring goals for fun at his club Lyon for quite some time now and he’s been on the radar of many top clubs. The hierarchies at Lyon have even hinted that if the right offer comes in, they will consider letting him go, as long as the club benefits in the monetary sense of things. Besides, Lacazette too will be looking for a new challenge and at 25, it’s the right time for him to test himself out in a stronger league.
