Go For It Mourinho: January Raid To Sign This £35m Versatile Winger Could Make Man United Unstoppable Again

Should Manchester United Make The Move For PSG Winger Lucas Moura?

Manchester United are reportedly interested in a £35m January move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura. The 25-year-old is understood to be open to a move to Old Trafford and that does work in the favour of the club since Jose Mourinho is in dire need of adding an attacker to the club. Although Moura boasts of immense talent, he has failed to start as a regular this season owing to the vast number of big names playing for the star-studded club.

Hence, a move to join United does seem like a good option for Moura since that will definitely allow him the scope for securing more playing time. Despite making only 5 substitute appearances in the Ligue 1 this season, Moura managed to score a solitary goal and that itself could be a welcome sign for a club that has been majorly struggling with their attack.

TheRed Devils have been accused of parking the bus and playing some painful defensive football this season but this could be a good opportunity for Mourinho to add some attacking talent to his side.

United started off on a strong note this term with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic being in spectacular form.

Infact, they were touted as the only team to provide a strong title challenge to Manchester City but as time wore on, so did United’s initial power.

They started putting up some unnecessarily defensive performances with a seemingly toothless attack and there seems to be no improvement of any sort when compared to last season.

To be fair, they are still 2nd in the table and there is no reason to panic right now but these lacklustre displays cannot be accepted from a club of United’s pedigree. Signing Moura will obviously not address all these issues but it could be a step in the right direction.

He primarily plays on the right-wing and that is an area currently occupied by Jesse Lingard. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was supposed to make that role his own but he has rightfully been iced out of the squad after putting up a string of ineffective displays.

Lingard has been quite solid in that area but it certainly will not hurt Mourinho’s chances if he did sign Moura. He can play on either wing and is quite versatile as well, thus opening up a lot of options for the Portuguese manager to select his playing XI.
