Go for it Poch – This powerful 22-year-old Brazilian could be the ideal goal-scoring support for Harry Kane

Why Tottenham Hotspur must make a January swoop for Joelinton

Brazilian centre-forward Joelinton continues to impress for Bundesliga club Hoffenheim as he put in another impressive performance in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Premier League champions Manchester City in the Champions League.

The 22-year-old, Hoffenheim’s current No.9, is tearing apart teams in the Bundesliga this season and is the latest product of the German club’s highly successful Brazilian recruitment drive.

Hoffenheim signed the Brazilian back in 2015 from Sport Recife on a five-year contract but Hoffenheim decided to loan Joelinton to Rapid Wein for two years and that move has worked wonders as the 22-year-old has returned to Rhein-Neckar-Arena as a matured player.

With Joelinton making waves in the Bundesliga, should Tottenham Hotspur make a move for the centre-forward in January?

Tottenham Hotspur were the only club in the Premier League to not make a single signing in the summer transfer window but that cannot be the case when the transfer window reopens as Tottenham need at least a couple of fresh faces to bolster their current squad.

Tottenham haven’t had an ideal start to the new Premier League campaign and the January transfer window is the perfect opportunity for manager Mauricio Pochettino to strengthen his squad and make them a team worthy of challenging for silverware.

One area Pochettino must definitely look to strengthen is the attack, which is currently spearheaded by Harry Kane. Given that Spurs have struggled whenever Kane has been unavailable to play, with Fernando Llorente too failing to impress during his time in north London, signing another striker to share some of the goalscoring burdens should be prioritised by Pochettino.

In that case, Joelinton could be an interesting option for Spurs. The team would benefit from having another deadly poacher alongside the talismanic Kane. The young Brazilian would provide good support to Kane, who seems to be carrying the team on his shoulders.

Joelinton has made a massive impact at Hoffenheim, netting four goals and supplying two assists in ten appearances in all competitions so far this term. The 22-year-old is a powerful centre-forward with a knack for scoring goals.

He is quick, pacy and intelligent with a fantastic work rate, something which could entice Pochettino to make a move for him.

With great potential at just 22 years of age, Joelinton would be a fantastic addition to Tottenham as the bullish Brazilian has all the attributes to become a success in the Premier League.
