Tottenham Hotspur should definitely make a move for Ben Chilwell this season
Despite losing to a resonant Watford side last weekend, Tottenham Hotspur have won three of their opening four games of the season. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have continued to play attractive football and thrive in the Argentine’s philosophy.
Spurs became the first club in the Premier League to not make a single signing in the summer transfer window. But Pochettino was visibly happy with the squad he possessed and the manager has now justified his decision with a strong start to the season.
But according to the Telegraph, the Lilywhites are monitoring Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell and are interested in acquiring his services. The defender currently has two and a half years left on his current contract and given that he is now playing a peripheral role under Claude Puel, the Foxes would be reluctant to let him leave.
Leicester will definitely play hardball but Tottenham must make a move for the youngster in January. He is an extremely talented full-back.
The youngster has shown immense potential and has impressed for Leicester this season so far. The 21-year-old has played all 4 games this season and has flourished going forward.
Chilwell is defensively astute and is an attacking prospect to watch. He is confident, determined and motivated on the field and is a tough-tackling defender who is also dominant in the air. Chilwell has won an average of 2.5 aerial duels per game this season. He has looked calm and composed at the back for Leicester City. Chilwell’s traits make him a perfect suit for Tottenham. The player possesses a number of qualities to flourish under Mauricio Pochettino and there is no doubt he will one day be one of the best left-backs in the country soon. The Leicester City defender also received his first England senior team call-up this international break.

Danny Rose doesn’t look like a favourite at Tottenham right now and Spurs could really use the services of Chilwell if they offload the former. Moreover, Ben could just end up becoming a crucial member of the squad. Pochettino should definitely make a move for the player this January.
