Go For It Rafa Benitez: Signing This Juventus Midfielder Could Help Newcastle Fight For European Places

Why Signing Stefano Sturaro From Juventus Would Help Rafa In Taking Newcastle To European Competitions

With 15 points from 12 games, Newcastle United have enjoyed a fairly good start to the season especially when you take their weak squad into account. Magpies manager Rafael Benitez has done an impressive job with his mediocre squad so far but might find it really difficult to rotate his players as the season progresses.

Newcastle could also go through a change of ownership, which is a really good sign for the club and fans can expect a lot more funding and top class signings in the future. The Premier League has never been as competitive as it has been this season and if Newcastle want to stay afloat by the end of the season, they could really use some new signings in the upcoming January transfer window.

One of the names that has been linked with a move to St.James’s Park has been Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro. The 24-year-old Italian international hasn’t seen much action this season due to injuries and has only made 6 appearances so far for Juventus.

With reports linking Liverpool’s Emre Can with a move to Juventus next summer, Sturaro could see his limited first-team action completely disappear. The Italian midfielder has a contract with Juventus that will see him stay at the club until 2021.

However, his agent, Stefano Volpi, has already dismissed the reports of a move away from Juventus.

Volpi said: “It is a pleasure for Stefano to be sought after by Italy and abroad at every market session. In Premier, for example, attention always come from teams like Everton and Newcastle. But honestly, everything is very premature, he is thinking of continuing to do well to Juventus.”

With the possibility of Emre Can joining Juventus in the summer being very high, Newcastle should really look at signing Sturaro. The Italian midfielder is full of character, speed, and is a really good reader of the game.

With Jonjo Shelvey’s reckless and inconsistent performances, Benitez could really use Sturaro in his team. The £9m rated Italian is also versatile and can fit anywhere in the midfield and can also play as a wing-back if the situation demands.

Newcastle United are currently at 11th place in the Premier League table and will be pushing for Europa League qualification. If they can procure the services of Stefano Sturaro and a couple of other players in January, Rafael Benitez could just manage to give Newcastle fans the opportunity to see their players play in Europe next season.
