Good job Sarri – Chelsea have taken a stride in the right direction by deciding to offload this 27-year-old for £12m

Why Chelsea are right in selling Victor Moses in January

According to a report in Daily Star, Chelsea wing-back/winger Victor Moses is set to be sold to fellow London club Crystal Palace in January for £12m after falling out of favour under current manager Maurizio Sarri.

The new Blues manager has changed the way this team plays, meaning a change in system from three at the back to a more traditional 4-3-3. As a result, Moses, who was successful during the 2016/17 season playing as a wingback, won’t be able to get into the team. He either has to be a solid full-back or a competent winger.

Sarri certainly does not think he has what it takes as evidenced by his team selections even in cup competitions, where Moses is nowhere to be seen in the squad. (Daily Star)

And as per the report (h/t Sun), the Nigerian’s former club Crystal Palace are interested in bringing back their youth product. Chelsea are ready to accept the £12m fee for the player.

Moses was a Palace player and started his career at Selhurst Park at the age of 16. Hence, looking at it from the Blues’ perspective, this is an ideal deal for them.

Selling a player who won’t even receive bench time in league games is a step in the right direction. They can use the funds generated by his Moses’ transfer to raise their spending budget as well.

Here’s why Moses would be a great addition to the Palace squad:

A good deal for Palace too

Crystal Palace are struggling in the league now and are close to the relegation zone. They have 12 points from 16 games and are just two spots above 18th-placed Huddersfield Town. The goals have been hard to come by, and in the past few games, the concession rate has increased as well.

The Eagles have netted just 13 goals so far, which averages up to less than a goal per game. They have shipped in 23, meaning they are going nowhere with the season. Roy Hodgson’s men usually either start to be more positive going forward or just play on the counter. At this moment, the team is in a confused state and they seriously lack pace in wide attacking areas.

Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend are playing up top as there are no in-form strikers in the team, leaving the team unbalanced in the wing department. Therefore, the influx of Moses to the team will help. The former Palace academy man knows the club and he possesses the pace and crossing quality to make a difference.
