Guardiola to make 1 big change – Predicted 4-1-4-1 Manchester City lineup to face Leicester

Predicted Manchester City Lineup To Face Leicester City In The Premier League

Premier League leaders Manchester City will be looking to set things right, after being held by Burnley last week, in what was only their third draw of the entire PL season.

Leicester City are flying high under former Southampton boss Claude Puel, with the Foxes having lost just once in their last seven matches in all competitions. They are certainly capable of causing a huge upset as they’ve shown in the last few seasons, which will definitely help things spice up at the Etihad this weekend.

Although the Citizens are currently leading the table by an astonishing margin of 13 points at the top, Pep Guardiola’s mantra of ‘perfection’ will make sure they don’t lose points against this weekend.

Team News

Pep Guardiola is currently undergoing an injury crisis at the moment, with the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Leroy Sane and Fabian Delph being sidelined. Gabriel Jesus will also be sidelined due to a knee injury while new signing Aymeric Laporte could make an appearance after missing out on the last game.

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Pep Guardiola is likely to stick with his customary 4-1-4-1 formation, simply due to the fact that he’s missing the services of dynamic fullback Benjamin Mendy. Sergio Aguero is expected to lead the line with four midfielders behind him, and Fernandinho as the holding midfielder.

Coach: Pep Guardiola

Ederson (GK)

One of the best keepers in the league this season, Ederson will once again be the man between the sticks for Manchester City this weekend. The Brazilian keeper will be desperate for a clean sheet after missing out last week.

Kyle Walker (RB)

Splurging huge amount of cash on Kyle Walker seems to be really paying off for Manchester City, as the English international has been a solid addition to the backline this season. His sheer pace and great decision making could prove to be pivotal during the course of the game.

Danilo

Nicolas Otamendi (RCB)

Nicolas Otamendi has been a real rock at the back for the Citizens this season. The defensive stalwart from Argentina should lead the City defence once again, as his team gears up to keep Jamie Vardy and co. at bay.

Aymeric Laporte (LCB)

New signing Aymeric Laporte had to settle for the bench against Burnley last week, following an impressive debut at the Etihad. He might once again make it to the starting lineup with Pep Guardiola having one eye on the all-important midweek CL clash against Basel.

Danilo (LB)

The former Real Madrid man would be tasked with the responsibility of stopping the likes of Demarai Grayon the left flank while also contributing to the team’s build-up play from the back.

Fernandinho (CDM)

One of the best players for Manchester City this season, Fernandinho will be an important cog in the holding midfield position for Pep Guardiola’s side. The Brazilian international recently signed a contract extension with the club and would love to vindicate the club’s faith by producing a strong performance this weekend.

Bernardo Silva (RW)

The injury to Leroy Sane has boosted the first-team chances of Bernardo Silva who was largely an outcast before the German International picked up an injury earlier this year. The Portuguese midfielder has the technical qualities to thrive under the system of Pep Guardiola and will, therefore, be looking to nail down a place in the starting lineup by putting up a great display against Leicester.

Kevin De Bruyne

Ilkay Gundogan (CAM)

Former Borussia Dortmund starlet Ilkay Gundogan has had mixed performances after coming back from a long injury layoff earlier in the season. A great performance against Leicester would help him bring back his confidence.

Kevin de Bruyne (CAM)

By far the best playmaker in the league this season, Kevin de Bruyne is once again expected to have a huge impact. The Belgian will start alongside Gundogan in the attacking midfield position, a duo which is tailor-made for Guardiola’s style of play.

Raheem Sterling (LW)

Sterling has scored the second most number of goals for Manchester City this season, which already makes him one of the most important players coming into this game. His pace and trickery could be helpful as the hosts look to outmanoeuvre the rather sturdy defence of Leicester City.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

Sergio Aguero will lead the attacking line for the home side this weekend. The Argentine superstar is the club’s top scorer this season with a whopping 17 goals in just 21 matches. If there’s one man Pep can rely on to score the opener against Leicester, it would be him!
