Harry Kane In, Sissoko Out – Strongest 3-4-3 Tottenham Line-up To Face Real Madrid

Predicted Tottenham Line-up To Face Real Madrid In The Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur, last season’s Premier League runners-up, succeeded in clinching an unforeseen outcome in the Champions League against defending champions Real Madrid, at Santiago Bernabeu. The encounter finished all square (1-1) and Spurs earned huge acknowledgements for their lion-hearted display against the Spanish giants. Mauricio Pochettino continued to show his mastery and secured a massive 4-1 victory against Liverpool at Wembley in that very weekend.

But the North Londoners, however, suffered a massive setback when they were knocked out from the Carabao Cup by West Ham United, which was followed by a 1-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday. Tottenham are now desperate to get back on track once more and would be hopeful of another successful outing against Real Madrid this Wednesday night in the reverse fixture.

Team News

Spurs are sweating over the fitness of their star striker Harry Kane. The English sensation missed the weekend trip to Manchester with a knee injury but Pochettino remains hopeful about his availability. However, they will miss wingman Eric Lamela and midfielder Victor Wanyama, who are still out with their respective injuries. But Dele Alli is set to return after serving three games of suspension and is tipped to play a major role in the attacking third.

Probable Spurs XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Pochettino has been experimenting with his formations time and again and has played a ‘back three’ as well as a ‘back four’ so far during this campaign. Recently, the boss has preferred a ‘three-man back-line’ in most of the games but opted for a 4-2-3-1 against Los Blancos at Bernabeu. He might retain the same in the return leg outing, with a view of securing another productive outcome.

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Hugo Lloris ( GK)

Lloris was majestic in their previous meeting and pulled off a string of stunning stops to snatch a point from such a difficult fixture. He will protect the goal once more and is expected to be tested frequently by Real’s lethal front trio.

Serge Aurier (RB)

Although he conceded a spot-kick that was eventually converted by Cristiano Ronaldo, Aurier was pretty decent otherwise and is expected to start the game on Wednesday night.

Serge Aurier

Toby Alderweireld (CB)

The Belgian centre-back has been one of the most influential figures in Spurs’ backline and helped them grab the most number of clean-sheets in the previous Premier League campaign. He is continuing his great run of form this season too and is probably the first name on the teamsheet among all their defensive options.

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

Vertonghen played in the left-back role against Los Blancos in their previous meeting but should feature in a central role alongside fellow countryman Alderweireld. replacing Davinson Sanchez too has been pretty solid, but he might have to sacrifice his place to make way for the experienced one.

Ben Davies (LB)

Spurs have more than one quality option for the left-back role, but the Welshman might get a nod ahead of Danny Rose due to his defensive attributes.

Ben Davies

Eric Dier (CM)

The Englishman has been a regular starter in Spurs’ midfield and is expected to feature on Wednesday night due to his high work ethics, combative approach and defensive composure while screening the backline.

Harry Winks (CM)

The Englishman started the first leg fixture when Mousa Dembele sustained an injury prior to the game. And the youngster did not disappoint at all as his performance was highly appreciated. He is now the favourite to start in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield once more ahead of the veteran Belgian.

Son Heung-min (LW)

The South Korean wingman started the game as lone striker upfront against Manchester United. But he had a disappointing outing and was taken off in the second half. He should be handed a start here against the Spanish champions. Son might be shifted to his usual role, in order for Pochettino to use the full width of the pitch.

Dele Alli

Dele Alli (CAM)

The young Englishman is available for selection once more after serving a three-game European ban and is set to start the game in the attacking midfield role.

Christian Eriksen (RW)

The Danish sensation is a crucial resource of the Spurs starting XI and should feature on the right-hand side of their attack against Real Madrid.

Harry Kane (ST)

Kane, one of football’s best strikers right now, is a doubt due to a knee injury. He missed weekend’s outing against Manchester United but is hopeful of a midweek return and Pochettino, too, is confident of having his striking sensation back for the epic encounter.
