Having Already Made 4 Signings, Which Is Another Important Position That Everton Need To Upgrade?

The One Area That Koeman Needs To Strengthen At Everton This Summer

Ronald Koeman helped Everton to a 7th place finish last season but the Dutch manager is adamant to improve on their league position from the previous season and is now making some stellar signings to try and improve the first team next season.

The Toffees are set to lose their top goal scorer in Romelu Lukaku this summer but Koeman has already spent on the likes of Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez, Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane to improve several areas of his squad.

With an influx of decent talent, Everton will be aiming for a place in Europe next season but they will be well aware of the other shortcomings in the squad that need to be addressed this summer. Here is one such position that Koeman has to take extra care of, before going into the next season:

The Wing

The Blues were a decent side in the attack, with Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas, and Romelu Lukaku showing signs of form on a regular basis. While the Belgian striker was effective in almost every game, Mirallas and Barkley failed to show consistency on the wings that could have seen Everton fall even below seventh place.

Barkley has also constantly been linked with an exit and having already signed Keane to improve the defence, Koeman will now have to look into the transfer market for a genuine winger who can add width to his attack.

Wayne Rooney

Lukaku was the destroyer in chief at the Goodison Park last season and replacing him will not be an easy task. Klaassen and Ramirez might be able to add goals to the lineup but Everton need a world class player out wide, who can add width to the attack and create chances from a wide area. At the moment, the club lacks such a player in their squad.

Options

The Blues are set to welcome back Yannick Bolasie, the Congo international who suffered a serious injury early in his first season at the Merseyside. He could yet turn into the player that Koeman wanted when he brought him in last season. But he remains the only top class option in the squad, making a winger, a necessity for the club.

The likes of M’Baye Niang, Andre Gray and Yoan Gouffran have all been linked with a move to the club and can deputise in this role. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney are also on the wish list for Koeman. Not many of them are genuine wingers but could solve Everton’s problems to a certain extent.

Who do you think Everton should target for their wings this summer?
