Hefele And Wells To Start: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Huddersfield Line-Up To Face Burton Albion

Predicted Huddersfield Town Lineup To Face Burton Albion

Burton have a shocking few days coming up.  An away trip to Newcastle beckons in midweek but first of all, they must tackle the impressive Huddersfield Town and they, along with us, must second guess how David Wagner will line his team up.

A heavy 4-0 defeat at Bristol City before the international break may well mean the German coach rings the changes at the John Smith’s Stadium, possibly in the shape of Hefele, Billing, and Payne coming in to form a 4-2-3-1 like this:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Expected Starting XI:

GK – Danny Ward

The on-loan Liverpool keeper is expected to be retained between the sticks as he has been brilliant this season.

RB – Tommy Smith

One of those ‘players of the season’ in this division. 4 goals and 9 assists are incredible stats for a right-back and he will be one of the Terriers’ most dangerous men going forward on the day.

CB – Michael Hefele

Mark Hudson will probably be dropped and it’s likely to be the former Dynamo Dresden man who might get the nod at the back.

CB – Christopher Schindler

Another of last year’s recruits from Germany, Schindler has been impressive at the back and his 2.1 interceptions per game on average has proven to be crucial for his side.

LB – Chris Lowe

A decidedly Germanic back line is completed by the man signed from Kaiserslautern. Lowe should hopefully step up for his team.

CM – Philip Billing

The impressive 20-year-old Dane should slot nicely into Jonathan Hogg’s place and will let no one down. He’s a potential target for other clubs in the summer and is interesting to watch.

CM – Aaron Mooy

The on-loan Man City midfielder has been excellent and will continue this weekend without a doubt. His defensive prowess is crucial to Huddersfield. He also has 3 goals and 5 assists to his name, which are not too shabby either.  He’s the complete box-to-box midfielder.

RW – Elias Kachunga

Town’s top attacking asset with 10 Championship goals, Kachunga will once again start on the right and will no doubt keep both the left-back and the centre-halves busy. A switch to the central striking position mid-game remains a possibility as well.

CAM – Jack Payne

Isaiah Brown is another potential casualty from the Bristol City game, with attacking midfielder Payne being the beneficiary because of this.

LW – Rajiv Van La Parra

Not completely setting the world alight perhaps, he is very much favoured by Wagner in this side and is likely to retain his place in the team.

ST – Nahki Wells

Despite being outscored by Kachunga, Wells is Wagner’s choice for No.9 and will start up front once more. His presence alone may keep the Burton centre-backs occupied enough for the likes of Kachunga and Payne to exploit.
