Here are 2 ways in which Silva could fit in this £20m Championship star in his Everton XI

According to a report by Liverpool Echo, Everton are in pole position to sign Norwich City sensation James Maddison, for who the Canaries want more than £20m.

Over the course of the recently concluded season, the Canaries might have failed to do much in their quest to secure a playoff spot but Maddison earned rave reviews for his performances in the Championship. And as expected, his brilliant form has attracted attention from the English top-flight as well.

Everton are in a good place right now. After a slew of disappointing results with Ronald Koeman last season, the club sacked him and brought in Sam Allardyce, who boasts of experience aplenty.

And he managed to steady the sails as he guided the Toffees to a respectable 8th-place finish. But to take their game to the next level and challenge for a top spot, they need a solid manager and the Merseysiders took care of that by appointing Marco Silva.

New Everton boss Marco Silva

With their new boss set, the transfer window will be a crucial time for the Merseysiders. Maddison has been one of their prime targets for the summer and if they manage to sign him, where would he fit in?

In a 4-3-3 setup

The backline would remain pretty much the same but in this formation, Maddison could find himself essaying the No.10 role at Everton as well.

Idrissa Gueye (CM)

Gueye was one of Everton’s most underrated performers’ last term and he did a decent job.

Morgan Schneiderlin (CM)

Schneiderlin’s performances were sub-par but due to lack of options right now, he could stick to his central midfield role.

James Maddison (CAM)

Maddison thrives in a creative attacking role and he could work wonders for Everton.

Theo Walcott (RW)

Walcott has done well ever since he moved to Everton and he could benefit from the services provided by Maddison.

Yannick Bolasie (LW)

Bolasie is likely to take up his usual role on the left-wing.

Cenk Tosun (ST)

Like always, Tosun will lead the line.

In a 3-4-1-2 lineup

The defence and the midfield would remain the same but since Everton have Oumar Niasse in the mix, Silva could also opt for something different.

Since Maddison is at his best in this role, it would be unwise to move him elsewhere. And Everton could benefit from the added creativity with two strikers up front.

Cenk Tosun (ST)

Tosun will be placed in the role of the striker but he will be able to share the burden with Niasse.

Oumar Niasse (ST)

Last season, Niasse performed admirably and he worked well alongside Tosun on numerous occasions.
