Two clubs who should sign Chelsea’s £18m star in the summer including Everton

Chelsea Opinion: These 2 clubs would hit the jackpot by signing Giroud

French striker Olivier Giroud arrived in England with a lot of expectations on his shoulders. However, he was unable to really make a strong enough impression during his first season at the Emirates.

Over time, his playing time in the Arsenal starting XI dwindled and after eventually being used by former manager Arsene Wenger as a super-sub, he began to look for solace elsewhere and that’s when a panicking Chelsea came in with an £18m January bid.

Since his switch to southwest London, he has struggled to make the starting role his own, often playing second fiddle to Spaniard Alvaro Morata. The recent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain on a loan deal means that his playing time would be further reduced in the coming months.

This lack of action can frustrate any player and while his departure from Chelsea is inevitable, the sooner he actually leaves Higuain’s shadow, the sooner he can rekindle his career and get back to playing regular first-team football.

Here are the two clubs who would greatly benefit by the presence of French World Cup winner Olivier Giroud in their ranks:

Everton (England)

Everton could turn out the be the perfect club for the monstrous Frenchman as his heading ability and presence in the box will certainly suit their current style of play. The Toffees have always been a team to get crosses into the box and this man is the perfect player to reap the rewards of it.

His ability to link up the play will also be hugely beneficial as players like Richarlison and Bernard will really be able to prosper with the help of the Frenchman’s amazing hold-up play. His ability to pick out threaded passes are also excellent and he would certainly be a great addition at Goodison Park.

With Richarlison often being played in the central striker’s role and Cenk Tosun being extremely inconsistent, the summer transfer window could be the perfect time for Marco Silva to snatch up the World Cup winner to aid Everton’s bid for European football next season.

Paris Saint-Germain (France)

The striker’s French root would make him a good option for Ligue 1 giants PSG as they look to improve their bid for European glory. While this plan hasn’t quite worked out for them yet, the addition of a player like Giroud could just be what they need to ensure that the goals come in consistently.

His ability to hold up the play and bring others into the game will be perfect for PSG who have talents like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on offer. While Edinson Cavani remains the first-choice striker, Giroud would be the ideal striker to bring the other PSG stars into the game more effectively.
