Hodgson to make no changes – Strongest 4-3-3 Crystal Palace XI to face Tottenham

Predicted Crystal Palace Lineup To Face Tottenham In The Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur will look to take advantage of the rescheduled fixture as they meet Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park this weekend. The match, which was originally scheduled for Monday night, was changed into a Sunday midday clash due to Spurs’ FA Cup 5th-round replay with Rochdale three days later.

Hosts Crystal Palace are currently on the wrong side of the table with just 27 points on the board, meaning the Eagles are just one point off the relegation places. Therefore, a win against Tottenham is a must for Roy Hodgson’s men this weekend.

Spurs, on the other hand, will be looking to get into the top four places by the end of the weekend. The Lilywhites are currently sitting 5th in the league table, trailing 3rd-placed Liverpool by just two points.

Team News

Crystal Palace are experiencing a huge injury crisis at the moment. A series of star players will be missing due to their respective injuries, including Wilfried Zaha, Bakary Sako and club captain Jason Puncheon. In addition, youngster Ruben-Loftus Cheek and left-back Jeffrey Schlupp are also sidelined along with defender Scott Dann and second choice keeper Julian Speroni.

Formation: 4-3-3

Head coach Roy Hodgson could field his preferred 4-3-3 formation despite having so many star players unavailable through injury. The former England national team head coach has also tried his luck with the 4-4-2 during the course of the season.

Coach: Roy Hodgson

Wayne Hennessey (GK)

Wayne Hennessey will be the man between the sticks for Crystal Palace this weekend. The Welsh International will be looking for his 4th clean sheet of the season.

Joel Ward (RB)

The Crystal Palace backline is expected to remain unchanged from their defeat against Everton last week, meaning Joel Ward will once again start as the right-back this weekend.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah (RCB)

The presence of Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been a boon for Roy Hodgson this season. Hodgson will definitely include Fosu-Mensah in the starting eleven against Spurs.

Luka Milivojevic

James Tomkins (LCB)

Crystal Palace’s in-form defender James Tomkins will be tasked with the responsibility of leading the Palace defence this week. The 28-year-old has performed pretty well of late and will be a key player as the hosts look to stop Everton’s dangerous attacking setup.

Patrick van Aanholt (LB)

Patrick van Aanholt will complete Palace’s 4-man backline. The 27-year-old has the ability to create a spark while going forward, which might be useful this weekend.

Yohan Cabaye (RCM)

Yohan Cabaye will be Palace’s main man in the creative department. Fans will turn to the talented Frenchman to provide the much-needed creativity and flair in the final third as the Eagles look to penetrate the opposition lines.

Luka Milivojevic (CM)

Luka Milivojevic has been a key player for Crystal Palace this season, making 25 appearances. The Serbian international will be deployed in central midfield alongside Cabaye and James McArthur but in a slightly deeper position.

James McArthur (LCM)

James McArthur should partner Yohan Cabaye and Luka Milivojevic in the middle third of the pitch. The 30-year-old can definitely create a stir in the midfield with his dynamism and tenacity.

Andros Townsend (right)

Andros Townsend (RW)

The pace of Andros Townsend could certainly help the home side, especially with Yohan Cabaye providing the service. The 26-year-old, once highly regarded as one of the best young players in England, will be eager to perform well against his former club.

Christian Benteke (ST)

Christian Benteke should lead the line for Crystal Palace this weekend. The former Liverpool man has failed to make any kind of impact in the Premier League this season, scoring only two goals in 21 games. However, that being said, his strong physical presence in the box can be intimidating for any defender in the world.

Alexander Sorloth (LW)

One of the most intriguing acquisitions in the January transfer window, Alexander Sorloth has proved to be a handy addition to this Crystal Palace side, as he can play in a number of roles in the offensive department. The Norwegian international should be deployed out wide, where he will look to use his skills to create chances for Christian Benteke up front.
