How Chelsea Will Line Up Fitting In Two Midfield Beasts From Serie A, If Conte Moves In

The spending spree at Chelsea seems to be hitting the high notes even before the next season has started. Rumours are going about that Antonio Conte is the man who will take over from Guus Hiddink at the start of next season and the Italian is set to usher in a new era for the Blues.

From the looks of it, Conte will be targeting players from the Serie A, something that he has won multiple times with Juventus but his sights aren’t set only on the players from the Old Lady, oh no, he is going to use his knowledge of the league and is planning a raid on AS Roma for a couple of their star midfielders.

Pjanic and Nainggolan: The future for Chelsea

Roma seemed destined to do something good in the Serie A for a couple of seasons but that hasn’t worked out under Rudi Garcia, who was sacked and replaced by Luciano Spalletti. The club do have some great players, especially in midfield and that could be where Conte hits the most.

The pairing of Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan is one of the most balanced you would find in the world football. They might not be spoken about as highly as some of the other players in the league but they do complement each other and they could easily replace the Cesc Fabregas – Nemanja Matic axis at Chelsea.

Pjanic and Nainggolan are 28 and 27 years of age respective and could put in a couple of great years for the Blues if they are signed from Roma. The duo complement each other really well and that is exactly what will help Chelsea out next season.

Both playing in midfield but Pjanic is the one who creates for the team with his incredible range of passing and also is great at taking free-kicks and corners. Nainggolan is the one who does all the dirty work for the team.

The Belgian does have a mean streak about him which works well in tandem with the calm nature of Pjanic. Chelsea have needed to replace the problem of Matic and Fabregas in midfield but they do not have to place both of them with these two stars.

Nainggolan and Pjanic can play together but more than Nainggolan, it should be Pjanic that Chelsea should try to target. The Bosnian is one of the best in his role and it is a surprise as to why he has not been hounded by some of the other top clubs in the world.

Pjanic is a jewel in the team for Roma and he would not come cheap to Chelsea but if Conte can bring both the players into the squad, it would not only improve the team but also greatly improve the competition in the team for places.
