How Leicester City Could Lineup This Season Fitting In The £25m Attacker Amidst 5 New Faces

Inclusion Of The Young Nigerian Star – How Leicester Could Line Up With Kelechi Iheanacho In The Team

Leicester City completed their fifth signing of the summer, after they announced the capture of striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City, for a fee of £25million (Guardian).

The 20-year old had been a top target for the Foxes this summer and they have managed to sign him up on a five-year contract.

Upon completion of the deal, Iheanacho told to LCFC TV (as quoted by the Guardian):

“It feels good and I’m happy to be part of this team. I know the ambition of the team and speaking with the manager, he let me know what I need to do – to help the team achieve what they want. I was convinced and I’m happy to be here.”

The arrival of Iheanacho could potentially turn out to be an excellent piece of business, given the great promise that he has shown in his fledgling career so far. Following the completion of the transfer, here we take a look at how Leicester could line up next season with Iheanacho in their attack;

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Formation: 4-4-2

Shakespeare has tried out the 4-3-3 setup in the pre-season, but a chance to field two explosive strikers in Jamie Vardy and Iheanacho at the top could very well mean he him shifting to a 4-4-2 that he relied on in the last two campaigns.

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

Despite a lot of speculations, it doesn’t look like the giant Dane will be leaving the King Power Stadium this summer and if that is the case, he will be the obvious first-choice ahead of summer signing Eldin Jakupovic.

Danny Simpson (RB)

The former Newcastle United man has made the right-back spot his own over the past few years for the Foxes and it is unlikely to change coming into this season.

Harry Maguire (CB)

The giant Englishman arrived in the summer from Hull City and has shown in the past he can cut it out at this level. Will surely be a starter at centre-back, with captain Wes Morgan likely to be involved a little lesser.

Harry Maguire

Robert Huth (CB)

Maguire will be partnered by another big and powerful centre-half in Robert Huth. The 32-year old German was a key cog in the late resurrection pf the club last season and will have a huge say in how things go this time around too.

Christian Fuchs (LB)

The experienced Austrian will continue to man the left-side of the defence. However, we might see the young Ben Chilwell get more and more opportunities as the season progresses.

Demarai Gray (RW)

With Riyad Mahrez most likely to leave, it is imperative that Leicester hold on to Gray and if he stays, the 21-year old should be blooded in to take over the mantle on the right flank.

Danny Drinkwater (CM)

The 27-year old is the linchpin in the middle of the park for the Foxes and he will continue to feature regularly in the starting XI.

Liverpool couldn't stop this golazo from Drinkwater.

Vicente Iborra (CM)

The new arrival from Sevilla is experienced and is a leader on the field. He should partner Drinkwater in the midfield to give that steel to his side.

Marc Albrighton (LW)

A workhorse down the left flank, Albrighton contributes at both ends of the pitch and is a natural pick in the starting line-up.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho (ST)

The Nigerian arrives with quite a prolific goal-scoring record in the Premier League in his short career. Hasn’t played a lot since the turn of the year, but he has shown all the attributes needed to succeed and Leicester might very well have struck gold with his signature.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

Alongside the new signing will be Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy. The England international found good form late last season, after a poor start and he would want to get firing from the get-go this time around. Him, along with Iheanacho, could prove to be an outstanding partnership.
