Manchester City Dream XI For Next Season – Featuring Bernardo Silva And Tottenham’s Speed Merchant

Bernardo Silva is a Manchester United target

How Manchester City Would Line Up With Silva And Walker In The Side

Manchester City have started their plans for the next season already and Pep Guardiola is not messing around, having failed to lift a trophy for the first time in his career. The manager has already completed the signing of Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco and is now looking to sign Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kyle Walker as well.

The Spurs man is unsettled at the club and is up for sale and might cost City around £40m this summer. But Guardiola is convinced that he is the right man and wants to spend on him in the coming days. So how will City lineup with their two new signings?

The Plan

Defence

Claudio Bravo may yet stay at the club as first choice next season as Guardiola will not find it easy to spend on two shot-stoppers in two consecutive summers.

Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi should remain as first choice at the club next season. Though Guardiola is looking to add to his backline, in the form of Virgil van Dijk and co, it may be best for him to stick with his experienced pair for the new season.

While Kolarov could yet play at left back, City are looking to sign Luke Shaw, Benjamin Mendy and Danny Rose for that position. Spurs star Kyle Walker will be a regular in the first team at right back. Tottenham’s speed merchant is one of the most productive defenders this season and should be the first choice for Guardiola.

Midfield Region

Yaya Toure and Fernandinho are not expected to be the first choice next season as injury returnee Ilkay Gundogan should play as the deepest of the midfielders. David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne have done a great job in a deeper midfield role and should partner Gundogan to complete Guardiola’s midfield three.

The Attack

This is where it will get tricky but exciting for City fans. While Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane have played extremely well on the flanks, Gabriel Jesus can also do a decent job there. But with Bernardo Silva in the squad, he is expected to play in his natural right-wing position with either Sterling or Sane on the left flank.

Jesus or Sergio Aguero are expected to lead the attack for City. The Argentine might yet be sold this summer, but he would surely be replaced in that case.

It is not too far from a dream lineup and Pep Guardiola is making sure that he gives himself every chance to win a trophy in the upcoming campaign.
