Spanish media outlet El Correo is the first one to turn to regarding information involving La Liga outfit Athletic Club Bilbao. On Wednesday, their website finally talked about the transfer saga of Athletic’s star center-back Aymeric Laporte, with a host of Premier League giants interested in signing him, though it doesn’t really sound promising.
The report stated that though English giants Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City were keen on signing the 21-year-old centre-back. But the defender is quite comfortable in Spain and is considered the second most important player behind Raul Garcia.
The Red Devils were one of the four clubs mentioned and it seems Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign his defensive target soon. A target for a long list of big clubs across Europe, a price tag of €50m has now been put on the French defender, which is the amount for his release clause.
Laporte has a current contract with the club, which lasts until 2019 and is considered as one of the most exciting players across the continent. Now, the Manchester based side has either the option of paying up or losing out, with City and the west London side interested as well.
