Huth And Morgan To Start – Strongest 4-4-2 Leicester City Line-Up To Face Arsenal

Leicester City

Predicted Leicester City Lineup To Play Arsenal

Leicester City will pay a visit to the Emirates Stadium this Wednesday night as they go head to head against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Craig Shakespeare’s men weren’t involved in the weekend’s round of fixtures and come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League that saw them exit the tournament. Leicester City sit 15th in the league standings, 6 points ahead of 18th placed Swansea City. The last time the two teams met in the league, the game ended in a goalless draw and Shakespeare will be hoping to do better this time around.

Team News

A week’s rest would have done a world of good for the Leicester players and midfielder Nampalys Mendy should be available for selection after having been out since March due to an ankle problem. Striker Islam Slimani may miss out again due to a groin injury. Defender Molla Wague has been ruled out for the season.

Here is how Leicester could take the field at the Emirates:

Probable Leicester City XI:

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

By far the best player of the season for the Foxes. He is an undisputed starter in goal and will look to get another clean sheet.

Danny Simpson (RB)

The former Newcastle United man has become a mainstay at the back for Leicester and has been a solid customer on the right-side. A sure starter.

Wes Morgan (CB)

The captain made a return from injury against Atletico last week. He is expected to hold on to his place in the playing XI.

Robert Huth (CB)

The giant defender missed the game against Atletico Madrid in the midweek due to suspension. He will be back into the line-up, replacing Yohan Benalouane.

Christian Fuchs (LB)

Another certain starter in the backline, Fuchs is an important player for the Foxes and offers them the added threat in the attack with his forward runs.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

The 26-year old has gone off the boil in recent weeks and has been struggling to have the same impact on the games, the way he did last season. He will want to end the season with some strong displays in the final few weeks.

Danny Drinkwater (CM)

The linchpin of the Leicester midfield, Drinkwater is an assured starter in the middle of the park.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

Has become the beating heart of the Leicester midfield. The 20-year old has gone from being a fringe player to a vital part of the team. Will keep his place in the midfield.

Marc Albrighton (LM)

The 27-year old has been in excellent touch in recent weeks. An epitome of hard work on the left-flank, his crosses are always a threat. He will keep his place ahead of Demarai Gray.

Shinji Okazaki (CF)

The Japanese forward will start the game in his usual position. He may not offer a lot of goals, but his industry is vital for the team.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

The English international has hit a golden patch in recent weeks and will look to continue his fine goal scoring run.
