Ideal Partner To Chris Wood? 3 Forwards Who Could Add More Goals To Burnley’s Game

Burnley Football Club’s upsurge under Sean Dyche has been quite remarkable this season as they are working their socks off and fighting astoundingly against the Premier League heavyweights. They are currently 7th in the league tally and their charismatic English gaffer should be eyeing a place in Europe, defying the odds. Burnley have made some stunning recruitments recently, mostly from Championship, and the underdogs are performing week in week out consistently.

However, the winter transfer window is set to commence from the 1st of January, 2018 and the Clarets are expected to dive into the transfer market to strengthen their lineup in order to stay relevant in European battle. Although they acquired 2016-17 Championship’s top scorer Chris Wood in summer from Leeds United, Dyche might look for another frontman who would add more goals to their game that is lacking so far this season.

Sam Vokes, the Welsh forward, has been impressive but struggles to stay fit for long whereas Ashley Barnes, though hard-working, doesn’t add many goals to his game. Jonathan Walters is 34 already and can only be viewed as a sporadic resource.

Burnley might thus look for a proper attacker to partner Wood, who has been an apt replacement of current Watford man Andre Gray. The Lancashire outfit is expected to explore the Championship market once more as well as other leagues if they wish to strengthen their attacking third midway of the campaign.

Britt Assombalonga

Current Club: Middlesbrough
Age: 25
Country: DR Congo
The Congolese professional first caught the eyes while playing for Nottingham Forest and his consistency earned him a summer move to Middlesbrough who, under Garry Monk, are eying a Premier League promotion after being relegated from the top-tier last season. He had his injury concerns at Forest, but Boro’s move reflects his ability and efficiency in front of goal.
Middlesbrough sacked Monk recently, who has been replaced by veteran Tony Pulis. The forward is a perfect suit for the Welshman’s ‘Pulisball’ due to his physicality and since he joined them only in the summer, there are chances that it might hinder a winter transfer. Yet, the attraction of Premier League will certainly be a massive influence on the player who seems to be prepared now for the English top division.

Matěj Vydra

Current Club: Derby County

Age: 25

Country: Czech Republic

The architect behind Watford’s Premier League promotion didn’t have enough opportunities to prove his worth in the top-tier but has once again earned credits for his great goal-scoring run with his new employees Derby County. The Rams are back in for a promotion battle and the Czech international has instigated the resurgence by scoring goals. This will be another real tough ask for the Clarets to strike a deal, but a move might finally assure Vydra to fulfil his Premier League dreams.

Nicolai Jørgensen

Current Club: Feyenoord

Age: 26

Country: Denmark

The Danish international has been in a prolific scoring run in Eredivisie and had a massive influence last season in Feyenoord’s sensational league-winning campaign. Jorgensen has been continuing his great form this term too and must be seeking a greater career move to one of Europe’s top leagues. Burnley have been a progressive side and acquiring Jorgensen will add more firepower and goals up front for the Lancashire outfit.
