[Image] Here’s how Burnley could line up with this £25million star duo in the team

According to a report by Daily Mail, Burnley are interested in a double swoop to sign Jay Rodriguez and Craig Dawson from newly-relegated West Bromwich Albion this summer. The report further states that the Clarets could acquire their services for a fee of £25million, which sounds decent enough.

Rodriguez is a striker and he could provide some much-needed depth to Burnley’s attacking department whereas Dawson could be an excellent choice to bolster their forces at the heart of the defence.

Sean Dyche’s men enjoyed a sensational season last term as they finished 7th in the league standings.

Despite a good amount of trials and tribulations that came their way, Burnley maintained consistency and never dropped below the top-10. It was undoubtedly a brilliant season for the club and going forward, they will be looking to maintain the momentum. And in their quest to do so, the likes of Rodriguez and Dawson would come in handy.

But how will Burnley’s line-up look with these players included in the team? Let’s take a look.

4-2-3-1

[Defence]

Matt Lowton (RB)

Lowton pretty much cemented a spot for himself last season and he backed it up with some impressive performances. He should continue in the same role next term.

James Tarkowski (CB)

Tarkowski was one of Burnley’s better players and his position must remain unchanged.

Craig Dawson (CB)

Dawson would be an excellent partner for Tarkowski. He is a tad more aggressive in his approach and that would help balance the situation at the back.

Stephen Ward (LB)

The defence must be completed by Ward at left-back.

[Attack]

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (LW)

Gudmundsson played a key role for Burnley last season and his presence will be of utmost importance next term as well.

Jay Rodriguez (ST)

Rodriguez is expected to provide competition to Chris Wood. And he is more than capable of doing that.

Aaron Lennon (RW)

Lennon should continue in his preferred right-wing role.

Considering Dyche favoured a 4-2-3-1 last season, this seems like the most likely set-up. However, Rodriguez is also known as a utility man and he is incredibly versatile. To include him and Wood in the line-up, Dyche could also deploy Rodriguez on either one of the wings, with Wood leading the line.

It remains to be seen if Dyche continues with this formation but given the amount of success it brought his team in the previous campaign, it seems like the most obvious choice.
