Predicted Chelsea Line-up To Face AS Roma In The Champions League

Chelsea managed to get all three points from their game against Bournemouth at the weekend but it was not all easy for the Blues, who are struggling for consistency early this season. They are back in action this mid-week as they travel to the Stadio Olimpico to face an AS Roma side that is in decent form in the Italian league.

The previous meeting between the sides ended in a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge and both teams will now fight for all three points yet again.

Team News

The Blues were given a big boost after it was revealed that star midfielder N’Golo Kante is finally back in training. He is expected to be available for selection and could be pushed into the starting XI straight away. Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses however, are sidelined with injuries.

Formation: 3-4-3

Manager: Antonio Conte

GK – Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian ace has not been at his best recently and will have a tough time yet again in this tie.

CB – Cesar Azpilicueta

The Spaniard is easily one of the most consistent players for Chelsea and is one of the first names on the team sheet for Conte.

Cesar Azpilicueta

CB – David Luiz

The Brazilian had a mixed outing against the Cherries but he will have to be at the top of his game against an exciting Roma attack.

CB – Gary Cahill

Though Rudiger has been decent, Cahill and his experience could be crucial for Chelsea on this trip to Italy.

RWB – Davide Zappacosta

With Moses injured, Conte has little options but to use Zappacosta as a wing-back on the right flank.

CM – N’Golo Kante

Just back in training, Kante has been dearly missed by the Blues and should start this game at the heart of the midfield.

N’Golo Kante

CM – Tiemoue Bakayoko

Having struggled in the absence of Kante, Bakayoko will be full of confidence going into this game, which will be a big boost for Chelsea.

LWB – Marcos Alonso

The lack of option on this side of the midfield should see Conte stick with Alonso for the second game in four days.

CAM – Cesc Fabregas

Neither Willian nor Pedro has been able to convince Conte yet, which should see Fabregas start in an advanced central role.

Eden Hazard

SS – Eden Hazard

The Belgian helped Chelsea to a victory at the weekend and Conte will need his expertise if Chelsea are to win this game and move into the next round.

ST – Alvaro Morata

The Spaniard has been effective in front of goal for Chelsea and will have to shoulder the goal scoring responsibilities in Italy.
