Premier League Team of the week for gameweek 25 including Chelsea duo

This week was a relatively entertaining one with no big surprises like last time. Cardiff and Chelsea both got comfortable wins while the big game of the week saw Arsenal get pulverised by an overpowered Man City side.

Manchester United and Spurs squeezed out tight 1-0 wins as Liverpool dropped points away at West Ham and allowed City to close the gap at the top to just 3 points.

Before we get into the actual eleven, let’s look at some honourable mentions:

Ben Foster (Watford)
De Gea (Manchester United)
Jeffrey Schlupp (C. Palace)
Josh Murphy (Cardiff City)
Nathan Redmond (Southampton)
Bobby Reid (Cardiff City)

Here’s the best XI of PL gameweek 25

GK – Lukasz Fabianski

The former Arsenal keeper is 33 years old now but like any fine wine, he just seems to be getting better with tine. He made some wonderful saves and looked like a very mature goalkeeper.

He was exuding confidence in the box and gave likes of Salah and Mane no chance. The one goal he did concede was actually offside. As hard done as West Ham will feel, they’ll be happy to be taking away a point from the league leaders.

RB – Matt Doherty

Another trademark Doherty performance was on offer at Goodison Park as Wolves went to Merseyside and completely blew a very strong Everton team away like it was nothing.

RCB – Sol Bamba

The veteran was exceptional against a strong looking Bournemouth side as he led his defensive line very well. He made many important clearances and some key interceptions to ensure that all three points stayed in Wales.

LCB – Conor Coady

The former Liverpool star was brilliant against Everton as he looked like an absolute rock in defence. His performance left the Everton forwards clueless as to how to get past the big man.

LB – Luke Shaw

Probably one of the only reasons why Leicester weren’t able to score a goal on the weekend, Shaw protected his flank superbly and helped United maintain the 1-goal lead that eventually won them the game.

RCM – Callum Paterson

Back in his original position, Cardiff City have looked prosperous with Paterson playing in central midfield. He brings a degree of control and composure to the side and as we’ve seen when he played up front, he can certainly finish as well.

CM – Ilkay Gundogan

The German had a special game against Arsenal, covering for the tiring Fernandinho. He was exceptional on the ball and did his bit of defending as well. The pass that opened up Sterling to set up one of Aguero’s goals was sublime.

LCM – Paul Pogba

Like many other players, the French World Cup winner has been a revelation since Ole Gunnar Solksjaer took over the helm at Manchester United. His composure in the midfield sets him apart from the rest and it was his assist that gave Rashford the lone goal of the game.

CAM – Eden Hazard

The Belgian magician was on fire against Huddersfield and really tore through the heart of their defence at will. Scoring two goals, he seems to have come back to life with the addition of a top striker.

LF – Gonzalo Higuain

The Argentine forward scored his first two Premier League goals at the weekend with a couple of brilliant goals. The first one was a typical turn and finish while his second goal was a brilliant curler from 30 yards out. He’ll be hoping that the goals keep flowing.

RF – Sergio Aguero

The most talismanic striker in the Premier League, Aguero was at it again against Arsenal as his hat-trick was enough to see out the visit from the Gunners. He made the 6-yard box his own and completely dominated Arsenal box.
