Here’s the Championship Team of the Week – Matchday 18

Another matchday of Championship football goes by with some interesting results, some fantastic goals and twists on both sides of the table. Norwich City continued their charge at the top of the standings with a comprehensive 4-1 win away at Swansea City. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Derby County, West Brom and other promotion hopefuls won their games to make it an interesting race.

Down the other end of the table, Hull City and Ipswich Town lost, while Sheffield Wednesday slipped further to 18th in the standings after a home defeat to Derby.

There were a bunch of fantastic performances this weekend. From that bunch, we take out the 11 best players to create the team of the week for matchday 18.

Championship team of the week

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager of the week: Daniel Farke

Anssi Jaakkola (Reading)

Kept a deserving clean sheet in an away game against Wigan by making some crucial saves for the team.

Alan Hutton

Alan Hutton (Aston Villa)

Scored a screamer against derby rivals Birmingham City and defended well throughout the game.

Mark Beevers (Bolton)

Beevers was a secure presence at the back for Bolton. Despite conceding a goal against Millwall, the centre-back was fantastic throughout.

Richard Keogh (Derby County)

Fikayo Tomori had a nightmare of a first-half against Sheffield Wednesday, however, his partner Keogh was the one who kept things together at the back.

Barry Douglas (Leeds United)

Possibly the signing of the season for the Peacocks. He is a genuine threat going forward and defends astutely as well.

Jonathan Kodjia (Aston Villa)

Scored a goal in the Birmingham-derby and played his best game of the season in terms of performance.

Marco Stiepermann (Norwich City)

Scored a goal against Swansea City and was a constant threat to the defenders in between the lines.

Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips (Leeds United)

He is possibly the most important player in the team. The Englishman is such a good player on the ball and shields the back-line expertly.

Emiliano Buendia (Norwich City)

The Argentine scored again in an impressive display against the Swans. Norwich look like the real deal and Buendia is a big part of it.

Teemu Pukki

Teemu Pukki (Norwich City)

Just like Buendia, Pukki scored again and was a real threat in and around the last line of the Swansesa defence. The Finnish front man continues to impress.

Tammy Abraham (Aston Villa)

Scored a goal in the derby and was a thorn in the Birmingham defence. His movement created space for others to find the back of the net.
