Predicted Arsenal line-up to face Sporting CP in the Europa League

An in-form Arsenal face Portuguese opponents Sporting CP in a group stage game of the Europa League at the Estádio José Alvalade Stadium. Unai Emery’s men came from behind to chalk up an impressive 3-1 win against Leicester on Monday.

They are on a winning streak of ten games in all competitions, for the first time since 2007. Hence, we can safely say that Emery’s reign is up and running at a brisk pace, much to the delight of the fans. The Gunners now face the prospect of a tough away game in Portugal, against a team who are strong at home.

Team News

Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac had hamstring issues which forced the manager to play Stephan Lichtsteiner at left-back. Both of them are set to be assessed ahead of the game.

Ainsley-Maitland Niles is back in training which is good news for the Gunners. Sokratis is back in full training too and Petr Cech is back fit.

Probable Arsenal XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Unai Emery

Bernd Leno (GK)

The German has shown his quality since stepping onto the pitch this season. He is comfortable at playing out from the back, which is good, bearing in mind how the manager wants the team to play.

Hector Bellerin (RB)

Bellerin has been in terrific form of late and should start at right-back once again.

Rob Holding

Rob Holding (CB)

The youngster has been solid at the back for Arsenal this season. He is more than holding his own when given the opportunities.

Shkodran Mustafi (CB)

Shkodran Mustafi should continue in central defence, partnering the promising Rob Holding.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (LB)

The Swiss would prefer playing in his favoured right-back position but due to injuries, he may have to continue operating at left-back.

Matteo Guendouzi

Matteo Guendouzi (CM)

The youngster has been one of the shining lights for the Gunners this season. His instant adjustment to such a tough league at such a young age is something special.

Mohamed Elneny (CM)

The Egyptian has had to settle for playing in the cup games. Elneny needs to keep performing though, to keep knocking the first-team door.

Alex Iwobi (LW)

Iwobi has been in great form this season, featuring in the team more than ever and impacting the games. He should start this game.

Aaron Ramsey (CAM)

The Welshman was on the bench against Leicester, therefore, he should be fresh to start this game ahead of Mesut Ozil.

Emile Smith Rowe

Emile Smith Rowe (RW)

The youngster showed great promise when Arsenal played Qarabag three weeks back. He deserves another chance to showcase his talent.
