Predicted Celtic line-up to face Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership

Celtic will travel to Easter Road to face Hibernian on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership. The Hoops head to Hibernian on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Red Bull Salzburg, yet they qualified for the Europa League round of 32.

In the last Premiership game, Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic thrashed Kilmarnock 5-1 – a result which saw them return to the top of the table.

Hibernian, meanwhile, recorded their first league win in six games last weekend – a 1-0 victory away at Hamilton.

Team News

Striker Leigh Griffiths has been given temporary leave by Celtic to deal with his personal problems. Mikael Lustig was forced off injured in the 2-1 defeat to RB Salzburg and could miss the Hibernian game. Dedryck Boyata is also out for Sunday’s game with a hamstring problem.

Probable Celtic XI

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Craig Gordon (GK)

Gordon is the first-choice in goal for Rodgers and he’ll continue in his role on Sunday as well.

Cristian Gamboa (RB)

Lustig’s injury on Thursday could see Gamboa get a rare start at right-back.

Jozo Simunovic (CB)

Simunovic will need a run of games to regain his form after a horrible run of injuries this season.

Filip Benkovic (CB)

Benkovic has settled in very well at Celtic Park. He is a certain starter for Sunday’s fixture.

Kieran Tierney (LB)

Tierney is a rampaging left-back who will look to give the Hibernian right-back a tough time.

Scott Brown

Scott Brown (CDM)

Brown will look to be his usual self on Sunday, stopping the opposition attacks and spreading the play with his passes.

Callum McGregor (LCM)

McGregor has been in really good form of late and deserves to keep his place in the team.

Ryan Christie (RCM)

Christie has become an indispensable figure to Rodgers since the last month or so. He is a certain starter at Hibernian.

James Forrest (RW)

Known for his pace and directness, Forrest will look to stretch the Hibernian defence at the weekend.

Scott Sinclair (LW)

Another nippy customer but has blown and cold this term, Sinclair will look to put in a top display to guide Celtic to all three points against Hibs.

Odsonne Edouard (ST)

Edouard is banging goals left, right and centre lately and is a definite starter for Sunday’s game at Easter Road.
