Predicted Leeds United line-up to face Ipswich Town in the Championship

Leeds United welcome bottom-placed Ipswich Town at the Elland Road for the midweek’s Championship match. Marcelo Bielsa’s side suffered a 2-1 loss at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday which pushed them to fourth place on the league table, two points off the top.

Their form in the past few games hasn’t been good after a dream start to the season. The Peacocks have won only one of their last four games, which would be worrying for everyone around the club, including the manager. Hence, it is imperative that they come back to form with a win over Ipswich.

Team News

Pablo Hernandez came off the bench against Blackburn and should be fit to start on Wednesday. Patrick Bamford is out until mid-January and Barry Douglas is ruled out until October. Isaiah Brown will come back by early November from his long injury layoff.

Probable Leeds United XI

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Marcelo Bielsa

Bailey Peacock-Farrell (GK)

The goalkeeper did well against Blackburn despite losing the game. He should start on Wednesday as usual.

Luke Ayling

Luke Ayling (RB)

Ayling is back after being suspended for the Blackburn game. He is expected to take the right-back position.

Pontus Jansson (CB)

Had a mixed game in the weekend, however, his passing is improving game after game, which is good news. His partnership with Liam Cooper is crucial for the team.

Liam Cooper (CB)

The captain’s performance was solid against Rovers and he needs to continue in that vein alongside Jansson.

Gaetano Berardi (LB)

Did a good job at left-back and then moved to right-back to continue the work. With Douglas out, we can expect Berardi to start at left-back.

Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips (CDM)

He was probably the best player on the pitch on Saturday. Phillips is an important player for the team.

Mateusz Klich (RCM)

His performances alongside Samuel Saiz in the creative department would be key to how Leeds play in the upcoming games.

Samuel Saiz (LCM)

As mentioned above, Saiz’s performance on the ball is vital to the team. He has been slightly rusty in possession recently and needs to iron it out.

Pablo Hernandez (RW)

Came off the bench on Saturday but expect him to start against Ipswich. Leeds need him on the right wing.

Kemar Roofe

Kemar Roofe (ST)

Struggled to harness much impact from right wing. He should be back to playing up front, leading the line and looking to score goals for the team.

Ezgjan Alioski (LW)

The Macedonian’s form has been sub-par in the last few weeks. Bielsa would hope for improvement from him.
