Predicted Everton XI to face Sheffield United in the Premier League

Everton continued their lacklustre start to the Premier League season with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth away from home in their previous outing and the Toffees will be looking to get their campaign back on track when they play host to newcomers Sheffield United on Saturday.

Marco Silva’s side have managed to pick up only 7 points out of a possible 15 from their first five games in the Premier League but they will be the outright favourites to bag all three points against the Blades this weekend.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are currently placed 15th in standings and Chris Wilder will have his work cut out in inspiring his team to a positive result at Goodison Park after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Southampton last week.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin (thigh), Andre Gomes (chest) and Jonas Lossl (calf) are all ruled out for the weekend clash, while star winger Richarlison is doubtful to start on Saturday due to a tight hamstring.

Manager: Marco Silva

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted XI

1. Jordan Pickford (GK)

England’s No.1 between the sticks was hardly at fault for any of the goals that the Toffees conceded in the defeat away at Bournemouth and he continues to be an undisputed start between the sticks.

2. Seamus Coleman (RB)

The Irishman showed a lot of character in the last game and he will be expected to rise to the occasion as one of the senior heads once again on Saturday.

3. Yerry Mina (CB)

The Colombian has looked shaky at the back right from the start of the season and he will need to improve on his previous display if Everton are to keep a clean sheet this week.

4. Michael Keane (CB)

He is yet to recover from the trauma of his misdoings during the international break and the home fixture against the Blades might help him regain his confidence.

5. Lucas Digne (LB)

The Frenchman wasn’t quite at his sparkling best in the 3-1 defeat away at Bournemouth and he will be expected to do a lot better this time around.

6. Fabian Delph (CDM)

The former Man City man put in the hard yards last week but was unlucky to have found the net with a sliced clearance off a free-kick and Everton will need him to play a big role on Saturday.

7. Morgan Schneiderlin (CDM)

The former Man United star was pretty average last week but injuries to Gomes and Gbamin mean that he could find himself in Silva’s playing eleven against the Blades.

8. Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM)

The Icelandic playmaker struggled to find too much space to exploit against Bournemouth last week but he continues to be a key figure in Everton’s attack.

9. Theo Walcott (RW)

He isn’t one of the first names on Silva’s teamsheet but the former Arsenal star might feature ahead of Bernard out wide if Richarlison fails to make the eleven.

10. Alex Iwobi (LW)

The Nigerian wasn’t anywhere near his best in the last game but he certainly deserves to start regularly to get acclimatised to the surroundings at his new club.

11. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (ST)

The youngster should be high on confidence after finding the net with a header last week and Everton will look up to him to deliver the goods once again on Saturday.
