Predicted Newcastle United line-up to face Burnley in the Premier League

After getting back to back wins before the international break, Newcastle United are looking in good shape ahead of their away game against Burnley on Monday night. Rafa Benitez’s men got the better of Watford and Bournemouth at home to climb above the relegation zone.

They face a Burnley team who are short on confidence and the Magpies would be aiming to get a win at Turf Moor. Hence, it won’t be easy for Newcastle and Benitez will know it better.

Team news

Yoshinori Muto is out injured and the Monday game would come too soon for the Japanese. Jamaal Lascelles had a shoulder problem and may not be considered against Burnley. Jonjo Shelvey also has a slight niggle and wouldn’t be able to feature on Monday. Florian Lejeune is a long-term absentee. Paul Dummett has a knock and won’t feature on Monday.

Probable Newcastle United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Rafa Benitez

Martin Dubravka (GK)

The goalkeeper has been one of the best players for the Magpies this season. Had it not been for his saves, they would have conceded a lot more.

Yedlin of Newcastle
DeAndre Yedlin

De Andre Yedlin (RB)

The American has been in decent enough form this campaign. Expect more forward runs from him.

Fabian Schar (CB)

With Lascelles injured, we might see Schar deputise for the captain, just like he did against Bournemouth.

Federico Fernandez (CB)

The summer signing has been a breath of fresh air at the back and has cemented his place in the team.

Javier Manquillo (LB)

Dummett has a knock and won’t be playing this game. Hence, we may see Manquillo start at left-back.

Mohamed Diame

Mohamed Diame (CM)

Diame has been a steady presence in the midfield and should start every game for Newcastle.

Ki Sung-yueng (CM)

With Shelvey injured, the South Korean has done well to replace him and take over the midfield role.

Ayoze Perez (CAM)

The Spaniard scored against Watford to restore some of his lost confidence.

Matt Ritchie (RW)

Ritchie has been pretty decent on the right wing but Benitez would be hoping for more quality from him in the final third.

Salomon Rondon

Kenedy (LW)

The loanee from Chelsea is doing a good job on the left wing. His crossing has improved in the last few weeks.

Salomon Rondon (ST)

The Venezuelan powerhouse scored a brace against Bournemouth to announce himself as a Newcastle number nine. Expect him to build on from that.
