Barcelona vs Liverpool predictions – Liverpool line-up

Liverpool would be aiming to get a positive result when they visit the Camp Nou to face Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie.

The Reds comfortably won their previous league game against Huddersfield on Friday night to keep the title hopes just about alive. However, facing a Barcelona side, with Lionel Messi is a whole different task, especially away in Catalonia.

With Jurgen Klopp’s men being at home in the second leg, an away goal or two with a decent result would bode well ahead of next week.

Team News

Fabinho had a concussion problem after the Cardiff City game and he was rested for the Huddersfield game. He should be fit to start on Wednesday.

Roberto Firmino had a slight muscle tear which kept him out of action on Friday. However, the Brazilian is cleared to train tomorrow and should be available for selection (h/t Mirror). Adam Lallana is a doubt for this game.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian is their first-choice keeper and is certain to be in goal on Wednesday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The youngster would have to be at his best to defend against Philippe Coutinho on the right-hand side of the Liverpool defence.

Joel Matip (CB)

Even though Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren are back fit, Matip has done well in the past couple of months and deserves to keep his place in the team.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The PFA Player of the Year is an irreplaceable cog in the team and starts every game.

Andy Robertson (LB)

The Scotsman might be up against Messi in both legs. He has to be at his very best to stop the best player in the world.

Fabinho (CDM)

The Brazilian was rested for the Huddersfield game, partly because he didn’t recover from the concussion problem. He is almost certain to start on Wednesday.

Jordan Henderson (RCM)

The Liverpool captain has been superb in an advanced midfield role. He is expected to keep his place in that position.

James Milner (LCM)

The experience of Milner would be required in such a big away game, where Liverpool need calmness in the midfield.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

The Egyptian star has been in good form of late and would be aiming to help the team score an away goal on Wednesday.
