Everton v Liverpool Predictions: Liverpool predicted line-up

Liverpool will be aiming to keep their title hopes in their own hands when they face Everton in the Merseyside derby this Sunday. Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently a point ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table, hence, winning their games is the only way to stay ahead of the Cityzens in this gruelling race for the summit.

After what has been a stuttering last few weeks, the Reds got their act together against Watford, walloping them 5-0 on Wednesday. However, the game on Sunday will be completely different, with their city rivals awaiting their arrival.

The atmosphere will be hostile at the Goodison and the Toffees will make it as tough as they can for the league leaders.

Team News

Roberto Firmino missed the previous game and is close to starting on Sunday, but it will be touch and go. Dejan Lovren is close but won’t be considered for this weekend.

Joe Gomez is still a bit away from returning to first-team action. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is slowly getting to full fitness but wouldn’t be considered before the end of March.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian kept his 16th league clean sheet of the season against Watford. He is the first-choice keeper and starts every game.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The local boy put in a fantastic display against the Hornets and is a certain starter in the derby.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Joel Matip (CB)

In the absence of Gomez and Lovren, Matip is quietly doing a good job alongside Virgil van Dijk. The same duo is expected to be on the field this Sunday.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Dutchman has been a colossus at the back and scored a brace by towering over opposition defenders. He is an irreplaceable cog in the team.

Andy Robertson (LB)

He is the number one left-back in the team and should be in the team on Sunday.

Fabinho (CDM)

The Brazilian was impressive on Wednesday and he is slowly cementing his spot in the team. He should start ahead of Jordan Henderson in defensive midfield on Sunday.

Fabinho

Georginio Wijnaldum (RCM)

He has been a consistent performer in the team and is one of the first names on the teamsheet these days.

James Milner (LCM)

Milner exhibited great work rate against Watford and was subbed off around the hour mark, probably with this game in mind.

Divock Origi (LW)

Firmino is a doubt, hence, Origi might get another chance to impress the manager.

Divock Origi

Sadio Mane (ST)

The Senegalese star flourished playing the centre-forward role against Watford and could continue there on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

The Egyptian was back to his best without scoring against the Hornets. The way he tormented Adam Masina was impressive, to say the least. Everton’s left-back would be wary of him.
