Predicted Rangers line-up to face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership

Rangers will welcome Aberdeen to the Ibrox on Wednesday as Steven Gerrard hopes to see his team continue the good form in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers emerged 2-1 winners at Hearts last weekend and that saw them claim the top spot of the Premiership table.

Gerrard’s Rangers will be confident ahead of the clash against Aberdeen, who lost the Scottish League Cup final to Celtic at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Team News

Ryan Kent may miss out again with a hamstring problem, while Graham Dorrans and Jamie Murphy are Gers’ long-term casualties. But Borna Barisic could be included in the squad after recovering from a calf injury.

Scott Arfield, meanwhile, is suspended for the Aberdeen game after he picked up a straight red card against Hearts.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Allan McGregor (GK)

He has been outstanding between the sticks for Rangers. It would take something special for Foderingham to oust McGregor from the starting XI.

James Tavernier (RB)

Tavernier is fantastic going forward but he has improved defensively this season under Gerrard. He is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Connor Goldson (CB)

A strong presence at the back, Goldson will look to keep the Aberdeen attackers at bay on Wednesday.

Connor Goldson

Gareth McAuley (CB)

McAuley scored an own goal at Hearts and will look to redeem himself in the midweek fixture.

Jon Flanagan (LB)

Flanagan could get the nod ahead of Halliday at left-back on Wednesday.

Andy Halliday (CDM)

If not at left-back, Halliday could play in his preferred role as a defensive midfielder.

Ovie Ejaria

Ovie Ejaria (LCM)

Ejaria is the team’s creative spark as he can slice open defences with one pass. He is a certain starter against Aberdeen.

Lassana Coulibaly (RCM)

Blessed with pace and power, Coulibaly is a feisty character who doesn’t think twice before sticking out a leg against his opponent.

Eros Grezda (LW)

Grezda could give the Aberdeen defenders a tough time with his explosive pace and direct running.

Daniel Candeias

Daniel Candeias (RW)

Candeias will look to provide ammunition to the Rangers attack from the right.
