Predicted West Brom line-up to face Middlesbrough in the Championship

West Brom will be aiming to keep their good form going when they face Middlesbrough at the Hawthorns this Saturday. The Baggies got a vital 2-0 win at Bolton in their previous league game to go fourth in the table. They are now only four points behind second-placed Norwich City with a game in hand.

Darren Moore’s men are up against a Boro side who are just one place behind them in the standings. Hence, we can expect a close game between the two teams who are vying for Premier League promotion. The reverse fixture early on in the season ended in favour of Tony Pulis’ men. Thus, West Brom would be looking to get some sort of revenge on that.

Team News

Chris Brunt is out with a calf injury and would come back by mid-February. Matt Phillips and James Morrison are out injured as well, with the pair expected to be back in training by early or mid-February.

Probable West Brom XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Darren Moore

Sam Johnstone (GK)

He has been decent in goal for the Baggies and is expected to start on Saturday.

Mason Holgate (RB)

The loanee from Everton has been doing a good job at right-back, hence, he may get the nod for this game as well.

Craig Dawson

Craig Dawson (CB)

He was a part of a defence that kept a clean sheet in its previous league game. Thus, expect the centre-backs to hold onto their places.

Ahmed Hegazy (CB)

The Egyptian always seems to have an extra second when he is in good form. West Brom fans would be hoping he is like that whenever he plays.

Kieran Gibbs (LB)

The experience of Gibbs could be handy in a game of equals. Moore would expect more from him in terms of putting more crosses into the box.

Gareth Barry

Gareth Barry (CM)

He has been a commanding presence in the midfield, more so in the previous game. The veteran is expected to start on Saturday.

Jake Livermore (CM)

With Chris Brunt injured, we could see Livermore back in the line-up after serving his four-game suspension.

Rekeem Harper (CM)

The teenager now looks accustomed to the demands of Championship football. He seems to be learning and getting better with every game. Expect him to start in the midfield on Saturday.

Dwight Gayle (LW)

West Brom are a bit short on wingers, hence, we saw Gayle play on the left wing against Bolton, and he did well. He should play a similar role this weekend.

Jay Rodriguez

Jay Rodriguez (ST)

He has been in good form in front of goal this season and expected to lead the line as usual.

Hal Robson-Kanu (RW)

The Welshman might not be the most stylish forward player, but he works hard and gives his 100% to create/score a goal for the team.
