Predicted Crystal Palace line-up to face Grimsby Town in the FA Cup

Crystal Palace will lock horns with Grimsby Town in the third round of the FA Cup at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The Eagles head into this game on the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 victory vs Wolverhampton Wanderers. Roy Hodgson could choose to rotate his squad for Saturday’s cup game in order to keep the whole bunch fresh.

Crystal Palace are considered as overwhelming favourites against League Two outfit Grimsby Town and Hodgson will expect his team to qualify for the next round of the FA Cup.

Team News

Roy Hodgson has no injury concerns other than Christian Benteke, who is expected to return after the Grimsby Town game.

Probable Crystal Palace XI

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Roy Hodgson

Wayne Hennessey (GK)

Hennessey has lost his place to Guaita in the first-team following an injury. However, the Welshman is expected to start between the sticks for the cup game.

Joel Ward (RB)

Wan-Bissaka deserves a rest after his Premier League exertions. That should see Ward get a chance at right-back.

Martin Kelly (CB)

For Saturday’s FA Cup game, Kelly could be given the nod to start in central defence.

Scott Dann

Scott Dann (CB)

Back after recovering from ligament damage, Dann would be raring to make his first appearance of the season.

Pape Souare (LB)

Pacey and athletic, Souare could start at left-back with Van Aanholt needing rest.

Max Meyer (CM)

Meyer is a technically-gifted player who has the ability to pick a pass and break the attacks as well. His presence in the midfield would see Crystal Palace tick on Saturday.

Max Meyer

Jairo Riedewald (CM)

Accomplished in possession, Riedewald will look to keep things simple in the engine room and provide Meyer with the license to create openings for Crystal Palace.

Jeffrey Schlupp (LM)

Schlupp possesses the pace, dribbling skills and directness to rip apart Grimsby Town defence all on his own. He is a certain starter for Saturday’s game.

Sullay Kaikai (RM)

A tricky customer to deal with on his day, Kaikai will look to impress his manager at the weekend.

Jordan Ayew (SS)

Scored his first goal in Crystal Palace colours in the 2-0 victory over Wolves. That should be enough for Ayew to start the FA Cup game.

Connor Wickham (ST)

With his power and physicality, Wickham could be a real handful for the lowly Grimsby Town defence.
