Two Important Liverpool Players Who Need To Sort Themselves Out

After enduring one of the worst months in the history of the club, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have managed to stay within touching distance of a place in the Champions League and the manager will hope that his side can stitch together a decent run of results, to try and stay close to the top of the table. The current squad at Anfield is not the strongest in the Premier League and there are few players who do not really deserve to play regularly for a club of Liverpool’s size and history. While some of those stars have potential and can still turn into superstars, some of them have had enough chances to prove themselves. Here are two such ‘overrated’ players who are currently playing for Liverpool this season:

Dejan Lovren:

The former Southampton man joined the Reds a couple of years ago under Brendan Rodgers but he is yet to earn himself the goodwill of Liverpool fans. In more than 2 seasons at the club, the biggest contribution by the Croatian footballer remains his winner against Borussia Dortmund at Anfield in the Europa League last season. Though he is the first choice center back partner for Joel Matip this season, he is far from a player who Klopp can trust for the long-term. He is not too far from an error and though he puts in some superb performances once in a while, he surely is not a player who can win Liverpool the league. His price, along with his rare and splendid performances rate him as an important player for Liverpool but Lovren may not be at the club in a couple of seasons from now.

Lovren is not the quality defender that Liverpool deserve.

Emre Can:

A controversial name on this list, Can, is a player who has been dividing the opinion of the fans recently. The 22-year old midfielder was expected to be the next best thing at Liverpool and his start under Brendan Rodgers, in a variety of positions got the fans excited for his future at the club. But it has now come to a point where the Liverpool fans do not want to see him in the first team. At his age, Can, has plenty of years left in him to grow into a top class footballer and he is also attracting interests from Turin recently but his performances for Liverpool this season have been inconsistent. He scored the first goal of the Klopp era at Anfield and has also put in some decent performances but he has not been consistent enough and will remain an overrated player till he proves himself on a regular basis. Klopp’s team selection shows that he has faith in the midfielder but until the midfielder justifies his place in the team, he will not be able to win over the Anfield faithful anytime soon.

Emre Can is talented, but he still needs to prove it.
