Swansea City Player Ratings vs Ipswich Town – Here’s how the Swans fared
Ipswich Town scored a late goal at the Liberty Stadium to secure their first win of the season against hosts Swansea City. Graham Potter’s men led and were level by the 80th minute of the game, only for Trevor Chalobah to score the most important goal for the visitors on the day.
The home team started well when Connor Roberts’ cross was deflected in early on by Janoi Donacein. Ipswich then scored twice via Gwion Edwards and Mike van der Hoorn (own goal). Bersant Celina looked to have sealed a point for Potter’s men, only for Chalobah to break the Swansea hearts.

Kristoffer Nordfeldt (6)
Made a couple of saves and despite that, he conceded three goals at home. Can’t be blamed for it.
Kyle Naughton (5)
Struggled to cope with the intensity of the game. His mistake allowed Ipswich to equalise.
Mike van der Hoorn (6)
Was off the pace and looked uncomfortable throughout. Scored an own goal to pile the misery.
Joe Rodon (7)
The youngster showed great maturity and calmness in tough situations. Smacked the crossbar with a good header.
Matt Grimes (6)
Performed very well in the first half, creating chances and combining well with his teammates. Faded in the second, partly due to the formation change and was more defensive.
Tom Carroll (7)
Kept the midfield ticking for the team, even in tight situations. He has recovered from the injury very well.
Connor Roberts (7)
Was the heartbeat of the team, providing some good deliveries into the box. The first Swansea goal was because of his cross getting deflected in.
Bersant Celina (7)
Took his goal well but could have done better on a couple of occasions. Overall, a genuine threat to the opposition.
George Byers (6)
Started the game quietly but came into it more and more. He was later withdrawn for Leroy Fer.
Dan James (8)
The best player on the pitch for the Swans, creating chances, forcing saves and making runs which troubled the Ipswich defenders.
Ollie McBurnie (7)
Should have scored at least twice as he waits for his next goal. The contribution in the build-up plays has been good.
