Swansea City Player Ratings vs Reading – Here’s how the Swans fared

Swansea City won consecutive games for the second time this season as they beat Reading 2-0 at the Liberty stadium to lift themselves to seventh place in the table. Oli McBurnie scored a brace, a goal in each half, to seal three points for Graham Potter’s men.

The striker scored a penalty in the 38th minute to give the home side a deserved lead going into half-time. The better team won the game when the 22-year-old stroked the ball home from close range just six minutes from time. This result lifts the Swans up to seventh place in the table with just two points behind the playoff spot.

Swansea City Player Ratings

Kristoffer Nordvfeldt (7)

Made a couple of decent saves to keep Reading at bay. He’s growing in confidence with the ball at his feet and this clean sheet would help him a lot.

Kyle Naughton (6)

Had a good first half when his movements infield created doubts in the minds of the defenders. Was quieter in the second half.

Mike van der Hoorn

Mike van der Hoorn (8)

A fantastic display from the centre-back who was in control of the situation at all times. Made a fabulous goal-saving tackle.

Joe Rodon (7)

Just like his partner, Rodon was impressive at the back. He also made one crucial tackle to possibly save a goal.

Martin Olsson (6.5)

A decent performance from the left-back who was steady throughout the game. Was involved in the build-up for the second goal. Went off injured later on.

Jay Fulton (7)

Not as influential as he would have liked, nonetheless, a performance which was very much under the radar. Swansea lost control of midfield when he was subbed.

Matt Grimes (7)

He was always busy with and without the ball, trying to remain involved in the game every second. A bundle of energy in the midfield.

Jay Fulton

Connor Roberts (7)

A quiet first half was followed by an impressive display after the break. His movements were a nuisance to the Reading defenders.

Bersant Celina (7)

The youngster tried to make things happen from the No.10 position, and he was accurate with his passing. An awful lot of attacking moves were going through him.

Daniel James (8)

He ran Andy Yiadom ragged, which is not an easy thing to do. Beat him for pace to win the penalty, and teed up the second goal with good measure.

Oli McBurnie (7.5)

Scored a brace but could have done a bit more. Maybe he could do well with a support alongside him.
