Impressive Luiz, Fantastic Hazard – Here’s how the Chelsea stars fared in the 3-0 win vs Southampton

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Southampton – Here’s how the Blues fared

Chelsea continued their superb start to the season as they made light work of Southampton and won 3-0 at the St. Mary’s. Goals from Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata sealed the points for Maurizio Sarri’s men, who look good to challenge for the title this season.

Truth be told, the home team were bad and allowed the away team to dominate the game. But the way Chelsea took control of it from the first minute just goes on to show how they have improved from last season.

Chelsea Player Ratings

Kepa (7)

Wasn’t in action for most of the game but when he was called upon to make a save, he did that nicely.

Cesar Azpilicueta (6)

Was caught on the wrong side of Ryan Bertrand’s forward runs. Apart from that, he wasn’t tested much.

Antonio Rudiger (6)

The German was a bit shaky at the back for the Blues. Got away with a couple of mishaps.

David Luiz

David Luiz (8)

The Brazilian was a standout performer with and without the ball. Commanded the back-line expertly.

Marcos Alonso (7)

A calm and secure performance from the left-back without anything extraordinary.

Jorginho (7)

Very adept as always in passing the ball with accuracy and incisiveness. Moves the team forward well.

N’Golo Kante (7)

A typical Kante performance as he was busy all game.

Ross Barkley (8)

Pinched the ball well to set up Hazard’s opening goal. A bright performance from the Englishman.

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard (8)

A very good performance from the Belgian once again, who is going from strength to strength with his level of display on a regular basis. Got himself on the scoresheet.

Olivier Giroud (7)

The Frenchman played a vital role in linking up the play in the final third. No goals to his name but the striker does other things to help others score. He assisted Barkley’s goal.

Willian (6)

A nearly game for Willian where he wasted possession on more than a few occasions.

Substitutes

Alvaro Morata (On after 68 mins) (7)

Looked intent to score another after bagging one in midweek. Did just that with the last kick of the game.

Mateo Kovacic (On after 81 mins) (N/A)

Had no time to make an impact.
