Here is the latest list of casualties reported by the club’s official website: Sagna (doubt – knee), Wilshere (foot), Oxlade-Chamberlain (groin), Gibbs (hamstring), Walcott (knee).
Although Wenger has confirmed that the side which played against Newcastle remains injury free, right back Bacary Sagna is the latest player to join the club’s growing injury list. He is unlikely to feature against West Brom this Sunday leaving youngster Carl Jenkinson with a rare sight of first team opportunity.
The Mirror reports that, Sagna is rated as “50-50” because of a knee problem as boss Arsene Wenger battles to get crocked player back in time for the FA Cup Final in a fortnight. The Frenchman has been a constant figure in the team sheet this season and has contributed immensely to the Gunners season. It’s a shame that he will miss out the last home game of the season and a chance for the fans to cheer their most consistent player before the curtain draws. And with all the rumours of Sagna leaving for PSG or Manchester City, have the Arsenal faithful seen the last of Sagna at the Emirates?
The likes of Wilshere, Gibbs and Chamberlain are also a real miss. Both Wilshere and Gibbs were expected to return to the starting lineup on time for the Baggies clash, but have had further set backs on their road to recovery.
Wenger during his pre-match press conference said: “Gibbs will be a bit short for Sunday. The good news is that he’s back in fitness training but he is not back in the full training group yet.
“They (Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wilshere) are not ready yet. Alex is in treatment at the moment and not in training. It’s very difficult to give you a time-scale on him at the moment.”
