Is This 22-year Old Price At €25m-€35m The Right Man For Manchester United’s Final Signing?

Why Manchester United Should Spend On Leander Dendoncker To Improve Their Midfield

Manchester United have made some smart signings this summer as they look to impose themselves as a superpower in Europe after a few years of absence and Jose Mourinho is determined to cover all ends up to make sure that they have a decent chance of lifting a trophy or two next season.

The manager has already spent over £150m in the transfer market this year but it does not look like he is done at the moment as he is constantly linked with a number of players for different positions for a move this summer. The deadline day is fast approaching and deals for players will have to be done quickly and one such player United want this summer is Leander Dendoncker.

The Red Devils received a major boost in the search for his signature, as the agent of the player has now revealed that his client is looking for a new challenge. Reports from the Sun claim that Manchester United have already made an approach for his signature but that they were pegged back by his current club Anderlecht, who wanted to keep him.

However, the same publication now claims that they might be tempted to sell the 22-year old if an offer of around €25m-€35m was made. So, should United look at him as an option this summer?

Born and raised in Passendale, Belgium, Dendoncker joined Anderlecht as a teenager back in 2009 and made it to the first team just four years later. Ever since, he has established himself as a first player at the squad, improving immensely every season.

A defensive midfielder by trait, the 22-year old, who can also play as a centre back, is one of the most highly rated players in Europe right now. With strength and aggression being his biggest threats, Dendoncker is a beast who loves to sit back and dictate the game.

With excellent vision and even better technique with the ball at his feet, he is adept at holding on to the ball under pressure while his ability to read the game and make pin point tackles allows his side to win the ball back in dangerous areas.

He can dribble past opponents and create chances in the final third but is more known for the defensive stability he brings to the side and he could be the perfect long-term replacement for the ageing Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

With two international appearances, 67 top flight appearances in his home country and 20 Europa League appearances, he is an established star at just 22.

It could just be that Man United will be better off signing the 22-year old and send him out on loan, before using him in the first team as United alread have a well-stocked central midfield.
