It Is Time This Arsenal Outcast Leaves The Club To Either Newcastle United Or Spanish Outfit

Two Ideal Destinations For Lucas Perez To Go To If He Leaves Arsenal

Lucas Perez’s time at Arsenal has surely come to an end. The Spanish forward arrived only last summer from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna but chances were rare throughout the last season, despite impressing every time he played. In his 21 appearances for the club, Perez found the net on 7 occasions.

There was discontentment from his camp following the season and the club stripping him off the No.9 jersey in order to hand it over to the new signing Alexandre Lacazette seems to be the final straw. This did not sit well with Perez, who aired his displeasure on the situation, in an interview with Spanish newspaper La Voz De Galicia. He said (as quoted by ESPN):

“They [Arsenal] are not being fair with me. The act of taking away my [shirt] number without telling me anything to give to a teammate, that was the last straw for me.

“It is unfortunate. And I can’t go on this way. I have given them everything, but they haven’t responded in kind. And I can’t take it anymore.”

“Last year I barely had any opportunities and when I had them I took advantage of them. And this season it is clear that it is going to be more of the same. I want to fight for the chance to play on the national team. I want to play football. But to do that I have to leave.”

Following these events, it is very much likely that he will be sold in the summer and here we look at two ideal destinations that Perez could consider leaving the Emirates for.

Deportivo La Coruna

The striker has made no secret of the fact that he wants to return to the club where he joined the Gunners from.

“I think where I will be better off is in my home, with Depor,” he was quoted as saying.

And there have been reports that the La Liga side have come in with an offer of £9million for the striker (talkSPORT). Perez enjoyed a fruitful spell with Deportivo, scoring 24 goals in 59 games in a three-year spell (one year on loan). The club finished 16th in La Liga last season, avoiding relegation by 5 points and will need to strengthen their ranks ahead of the coming season.

The club are very much interested in taking the player back, and Perez too wants to move there. But it will all come down to whether Arsenal accept a £9million offer.

Newcastle United

A left-field choice probably, but Newcastle United are in dire need of a striker and Perez is desperately seeking a move away from the club, maybe a deal can be worked out?

Newcastle earned promotion back to the Premier League after winning the EFL Championship last season. And manager Rafael Benitez has been working hard to build a squad that will be able to compete on a strong footing upon their return to the big leagues. A striker has been on top of the club’s mind, following the sale of Daryl Murphy and doubts over the future of Aleksandar Mitrovic. Perez, despite his limited game time last season, has shown he can perform at this level and can get goals on a regular basis.

Joining Newcastle will offer Perez an opportunity of regular football in the Premier League, for a club with rich history and also a chance to work with someone like Benitez, who has had a decorated managerial career. It will be an enticing prospect. Perhaps, something to consider for Perez.
