Jack Wilshere Refutes Jamie Rednapp’s Claims That His Arsenal Career Is Over

Arsenal famed Academy graduate Jack Wilshere has refuted claims by former Liverpool midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Rednapp that his Arsenal career is over after the 24-year-old midfielder made the move to South Coast club Bournemouth in the summer having been informed by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that he will struggle to see game time if he remained In North London for this season.

“I don’t see a future for Wilshere at Arsenal any more. I think now he’ll realise he has got to get away from Arsenal.

“It’s too comfortable for him there. He is not going to get into the team at Arsenal,” were the words of Jamie Redknapp on air before the Bournemouth- Spurs game on Saturday.

Wilshere moved to Bournemouth on the transfer deadline day, even when the , as Eddie Howe convinced him that joining the Cherries will make his career a whole lot of good considering his style of play is compatible with the Cherries. Wilshere was once regarded as England’s brightest talent by the likes of Fabio Capello (former Three Lions Manager) and Xavi Hernandez of Barcelona while in top form for club and country before suffering with long term injury some seasons ago. At Arsenal, Wilshere would have been fifth choice in the pecking order for a spot in the double pivot role in the centre of the park considering the likes of Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Mohammed El’Neny and Francis Coquelin are all rated ahead of him.

At Bournemouth, Wilshere has not only seen game time but also completed 90 minutes of football last weekend in the league game against Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium which was the first time he completed the full 90 minutes in two years. Eddie Howe’s team are on 12 points (tenth in the table) eight behind joint leaders Manchester City and Arsenal after nine games in the league so far.

Wilshere when asked on his thoughts after the game had this to say, “I don’t know where he (Rednapp) got that from.”

“I’m just trying to get back to what I was enjoying my football and playing week-in week-out and today was a massive step towards that.”

“I’ve not really thought about that so how other people can comment on it……”

“If he doesn’t see me going back to Arsenal then that’s up to him. He’s entitled to his opinion but I haven’t though about it,” he concluded .
