Joe Gomez (Scout Report): Find Out Why Arsenal Are Interested In Him

The Premier League might set new rules in terms of having more home-grown players in a team and that would lead to a mad scramble with clubs trying to sign the best young players from smaller clubs. The lower divisions of English football might have a lot of English players, especially young players coming out of the academy with a lot of promise to become the best players in their club and it seems that one such player might be on the radar for Arsenal, home of some of the best talent in England.

Joe Gomez, an exciting prospect

Charlton Athletic might be known to a lot of Premier League fans for their stint in the league but they have not been able to get back in the Premier League for a long time but they do have one bright spark in their team who has been turning heads not only in the Championship but in international football as well.

Gomez is known to play either a central defensive role or as a right back and has been playing exceptionally well for the England U 19 team this season. He is 6 ft 2 in and has been known to be a tough tackler, something that could work well for an Arsenal team that is always on the lookout for better defenders.

Gomez started his career in the academy at Charlton and he grew there, he made his debut for the under 18 side at just 13 years of age. His impressive performances led him to sign a three-year contract last season and he could move for a free at the end of the 2017 season but that is a long way to go.

He is surely a player for the future, but he does seem to possess a lot of skills, in fact in the concluded 2014 U 17 Euro championship, he was included in the team of the tournament. He might not cost a lot to move to Arsenal but expecting to see him play in the Arsenal team right after his signing is far from happening.

He would spend a few seasons on loan since the Gunners already have the likes of Monreal, Gibbs, Chambers and Debuchy to play in similar roles, but he will be under one of the best coaches for young players and that in itself could work in Gomez’s future as he tries to live up to his potential .
