After the game, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho addressed the media and said: “They were the best team in the first half. In the second half everything changed and we were the best team. City made defensive subs at 1-0 because we were dominating and threatening an equaliser.”

Mourinho had replaced John Terry at half time and replaced him with youngster Kurt Zouma. The manager clarified his decision to the press. On Terry getting substituted at half-time for the first time in his career, Mourinho said Kurt Zouma was introduced at half-time because he is the quickest defender and he wanted to play with a higher line.

Mourinho also opined that Fernandinho should have been sent-off for elbowing Chelsea striker Diego Costa while winning an aerial ball just before the half-time.

Mourinho added: Fernandinho should have been sent off for elbowing Diego Costa shortly before half-time.

Mourinho did not speak anything about his medical staffs, who were banned from the game after Mourinho claimed that they were unprofessional in the Blues’ season opener against Swansea.
